In short
- On the traditional North Indian calendar, the next window opens 20 to 21 November 2026 and pauses at Dhanu Sankranti on 16 December. Three more windows follow in 2027.
- Shopping and planning content runs weeks ahead of the dates, and venues book months ahead. Market for dates six to twelve months out, not for this month.
- Real couples are the best creators and the biggest privacy risk. Get written consent for every person on camera and never film guests who have not agreed.
- Skip dowry, fairness and cost-shaming themes, and treat interfaith or inter-caste couples as people, not as engagement bait.
Wedding season influencer marketing works in four windows a year, each with its own shopping run and its own deadline for booking creators. The traditional calendar pauses weddings for stretches in December to January, March to April and July to November, so brands that treat "wedding season" as one block either arrive late or spend through the pauses. This post is the wedding slice of our guide to influencer marketing in India, with the dates, eleven ideas by stage, budgets and the sensitivities.
The four windows
These dates follow the traditional North Indian muhurat calendar, where auspicious ceremonies pause while the sun is in Sagittarius and Pisces and during Chaturmas. Other communities, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayali, Bengali, Gujarati, Sikh, Muslim and Christian families, follow their own calendars, and each family still confirms dates with a priest. Treat the table as the shape of demand, not a list of wedding dates.
| Window | Opens | Pauses | Dates from |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Dev Uthani Ekadashi, 20 Nov 2026 (weddings from about 21 Nov) | Dhanu Sankranti, 16 Dec 2026 | Dekho Panchang, Drik Panchang |
| B | After Makar Sankranti, 15 Jan 2027 | Meena Sankranti, 15 Mar 2027 | Drik Panchang |
| C | After Mesha Sankranti, 14 Apr 2027 | Devshayani Ekadashi, 13 or 14 Jul 2027 | Dekho Panchang |
| D | Dev Uthani Ekadashi, 10 Nov 2027 | Dhanu Sankranti, 16 Dec 2027 | Dekho and Drik Panchang |
Window A is three weeks away as this post is published, and it opens just after Diwali on 8 November. Window D opens twelve days after Diwali on 29 October 2027, so festive and wedding budgets collide that year. The festival calendar for influencers shows both.
What audiences do online
A bride or groom in the planning phase searches for outfits, makeup artists, venues, photographers and decor months ahead, saves hundreds of posts and shares them with family. Guests search later: what to wear to a haldi, a sangeet and a reception, where to buy it, what to gift. After the wedding come honeymoon trips and home setup.
In our experience the content that travels is specific and local: a real bride showing what a Punjabi, Marwari or Bengali wedding actually costs and involves, in the family's language. Generic "dream wedding" montages travel less.
Eleven ideas by wedding stage
| Stage | Idea | Creators | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Planning | Wedding diaries: a real couple documents the six months | Couple and bride-diary creators | A multi-part Reel series |
| Planning | Real talk on costs: what each function costs and where families overspend | Wedding planners | Carousel, talking-head Reel |
| Outfits | Lehenga or sherwani: rent, buy or customise, compared on price | Bridal fashion and menswear stylists | Comparison carousel, try-on Reel |
| Outfits | The guest edit: one invitation, five outfits by function | Guest-outfit stylists | Lookbook Reel |
| Beauty | Skin and hair timeline for the six months before | Beauty creators, with a qualified expert for advice | Reel, saved carousel |
| Beauty | Trial day: bridal makeup tested on camera | Makeup artists | Process Reel |
| Functions | Mehendi design reveal | Mehendi artists | Close-up Reel |
| Functions | Sangeet in six weeks: a family routine taught step by step | Choreographers and dance creators | Tutorial Reel |
| Venues | Venue walk-through with a planner's cost tips | Planners and decorators | Tour Reel, Stories |
| Home | Trousseau and gifting lists for appliances, bedding and kitchen | Home creators | Reel, carousel |
| After | Honeymoon planning on a budget | Travel and couple creators | Reel, Stories |
Three need operating detail. Wedding diaries perform because they are slow and personal, so sign the couple for the whole run, with consent, approval rights and a fee that reflects months of work. The guest edit is the cheapest to run and the easiest to attribute, since every outfit links to a product. Venue walk-throughs only work if the planner shows real prices; vague tours read as ads.
When to brief, book and post
| Window | Brief by | Book by | Go live from |
|---|---|---|---|
| A (Nov to Dec 2026) | This week | 6 Nov | 14 Nov, micro-led only |
| B (Jan to Mar 2027) | 1 Dec 2026 | 15 Dec | 2 Jan 2027 |
| C (Apr to Jul 2027) | 1 Mar | 15 Mar | 1 Apr |
| D (Nov to Dec 2027) | 1 Sep | 15 Sep | 20 Oct, before Diwali on 29 Oct |
Venues, hotels and planners should run six to twelve months ahead of the weddings they want. A venue wanting November 2027 dates should publish in spring 2027, not in November.
Budget notes
Use the ranges in our influencer rates guide: a nano Reel about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000, a micro Reel ₹8,000 to ₹80,000, a micro Story set ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 and a mid-tier Reel ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh. Add about 35 percent for usage rights, which is our planning figure, and published guides put creator-ad (whitelisting) rights at +60 to 120 percent over an organic post, with ad media on top. Bridal content is often reused as ads, so negotiate rights upfront.
Hospitality and outfit loans are real costs. A hosted stay, a lehenga loaned for a shoot, or a makeup trial are benefits for tax, and a creator who keeps goods or services above ₹20,000 in a financial year can trigger 10 percent TDS under section 194R, with exemptions for some small individual creators. Loaned items returned after the shoot are treated differently from kept items. See TDS 194R and GST on influencer payments. Management fees are about 15 to 25 percent of creator spend in published benchmarks.
What goes in a wedding creator contract
Weddings add clauses an ordinary brief lacks. Our influencer contract guide covers the basics; add these:
- People on camera: who consented, for which platforms and how long, and how a person can withdraw.
- Ownership of images: whether the creator or a hired photographer owns the wedding photographs, and whether the brand may reuse them in ads and for how long.
- Category exclusivity for the window, for example bridal wear or jewellery.
- Embargo for a surprise reveal, with the date and time in IST.
- Postponement: weddings move, so say what happens to the fee, the product and the posting window.
- Label and approvals: the label wording, and approval rights for the brand and the couple.
What to measure
Wedding purchases have long cycles. For outfits and beauty, count orders by code within 30 days of each post. For venues, hotels and planners, count qualified enquiries, site visits booked and enquiry-to-booking over six months, and agree at the start how long you will keep tracking. Saves and shares on cost-reality content are the earliest sign of intent. See how to measure influencer marketing ROI for setting baselines on slow-cycle categories.
Cultural sensitivities
- Dowry is not content. Never present what the bride's family "should give", or a gift list that reads like a demand.
- Fairness is not beauty. Keep skin-lightening language out of bridal beauty briefs.
- Do not mock rituals or communities. Regional creators who live the tradition should script it; outsiders get details wrong.
- Interfaith and inter-caste couples attract abuse. Feature them only if they choose it, and moderate comments before posting.
- Not every couple fits the frame. If you feature same-sex or non-traditional couples, treat them as real people with real preferences, not as a stunt.
- Do not shame cost or glamourise debt. A budget video should show choices, not pressure.
- Privacy. Get written consent from the couple, and do not film guests or children who have not agreed. Check photography rules at religious venues, and drone permits where needed.
Disclosure and rules
ASCI requires a clear label whenever money, free products, stays or barter connect a creator to a brand. In a Story it goes on the visual; in a Reel of 15 seconds or less, on screen for at least 3 seconds; in a live, announced at the start and end. A creator who attends a wedding as a hired guest and posts brand content needs the label too. AI-generated try-on images or virtual brides need a label under ASCI's September 2026 synthetic-content guideline.
For wedding loans or insurance, ASCI's finance rules expect creators giving technical advice to state qualifications upfront, and SEBI registration is needed for securities advice. See ASCI influencer guidelines explained. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.
Next steps
Match the idea to the category: fashion and apparel, beauty and skincare and travel and hospitality each have creators we cast. Related playbooks: Diwali and Eid and Ramadan, whose outfit and gifting content overlaps. Use creator ads to keep the best content working between windows. Frequently asked questions
When is the wedding season in India in 2026 and 2027?
On the traditional North Indian calendar, weddings resume after Dev Uthani Ekadashi on 20 November 2026 and pause at Dhanu Sankranti on 16 December. They resume after Makar Sankranti (15 January 2027), pause from Meena Sankranti (15 March) to 14 April, run to Devshayani Ekadashi (13 or 14 July), and reopen on 10 November 2027. Other communities follow other calendars; ask a priest.
Which influencers work for wedding season campaigns?
Bridal fashion and makeup creators, mehendi artists, wedding planners and decorators, wedding photographers, sangeet choreographers, real-couple and bride-diary creators, groom-style creators, guest-outfit stylists and honeymoon travel creators. Mostly micro. Our micro-influencer service casts them, and regional creators cover Punjabi, Marwari, Gujarati, Bengali and southern weddings.
How early should a brand start a wedding season influencer campaign?
For clothes, makeup and jewellery, start four to six weeks before a window; shoppers buy ahead of the date. For venues, hotels and planners, start six to twelve months ahead, since couples book early. Our typical micro campaign goes live in two to three weeks from a brief, so a lean version can still catch the 20 November 2026 window.
How much does a wedding influencer campaign cost in India?
Creator fees follow published ranges: about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 for a nano Reel, ₹8,000 to ₹80,000 for a micro Reel and ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh for a mid-tier Reel. Hosted stays, outfit loans, usage rights and creator ads are extra. See the influencer rates guide.
Can we film real weddings for brand content?
Only with consent. Get written permission from the couple and families, avoid showing guests or children who have not agreed, and check photography rules at temples, gurdwaras, churches and venues. If the content is branded, the creator must carry a disclosure label. See our ASCI guide for placement rules.
Are wedding loans or insurance suitable for influencer promotion?
They can be, but finance is regulated. ASCI expects creators giving technical financial advice to state relevant qualifications upfront, and SEBI registration is needed for securities advice. A creator reading out a loan offer is promoting a product, and the brand must be able to back every claim. See fintech and BFSI influencer marketing.
