In short

  • Surat has a textile trade, a diamond trade and a consumer city. A campaign must say which of the three it is talking to.
  • The same saree Reel often has two audiences: the buyer who wants the fabric and the reseller who wants the margin. We plan them as two goals.
  • Gujarati leads, with Hindi, Marathi, Odia, Bhojpuri and Rajasthani speakers living and working in the city. Casting by language matters.
  • Strategy runs from New Delhi, with Surat creators and trips for market shoots. There is no Surat office.
61.1%of surveyed Indian creators are nano, with 1,000 to 10,000 followers (2026 creator survey; vendor estimate)Source

Influencer Gully works with Surat brands, and with brands that sell to Surat, casting Gujarati and Hindi creators who live in the city and running the campaign from New Delhi. Our strategist travels for shoots, market visits and launches. None of it needs a Surat office, and we do not claim one.

Anyone hiring an influencer marketing agency in Surat should first decide which Surat they are talking to. The city is a centre of textile manufacturing and trading, a centre of diamond cutting and polishing, and a consumer city with its own food, festivals and fast-growing neighbourhoods. The same creator will not serve all three.

Many campaigns here serve two of the rows at once. A saree label, for example, wants consumers in the third row and resellers from the first. Those are separate goals with separate creators, formats and numbers.

One Reel, two audiences

In the textile trade, a catalogue Reel is watched by two kinds of people. One wants to buy a saree. The other wants to resell it and cares about price, minimum order, dispatch and margin. Resellers often move leads to WhatsApp, so the real conversion is a chat started, not a click.

A brief should choose. A consumer Reel shows fall, fit and occasion, and ends with a store or site link. A reseller Reel shows the catalogue, the wholesale price band, the minimum order and a WhatsApp link, and often performs best when a creator who resells herself presents it. We label both as ads and brief creators not to promise earnings. Where claims are made, such as "pure georgette", the fabric must match the claim.

A 2026 creator survey reported by Campaign India says 61.1 percent of surveyed Indian creators are nano, and Surat's reseller and fashion circles have plenty of them. Nano creators are cheap, close to their audiences and often resellers themselves, which makes them a natural fit for micro and nano influencer campaigns.

Language: Gujarati first, with five more around it

Gujarati carries the city's identity, from Navratri and Uttarayan to the old saying that the two great blessings are to eat in Surat and to die in Kashi. Surat also draws workers and traders from across India, so Hindi, Marathi, Odia, Bhojpuri and Rajasthani are spoken in its mills, markets and neighbourhoods.

  • Gujarati-first suits local food, fashion, festivals, property and comedy.
  • Hindi suits brands that sell to migrant communities and to buyers across north and central India.
  • Odia, Marathi and Bhojpuri suit workwear, remittance, regional OTT, mobile and finance brands that serve the workforce. Odisha's migrants are a large community in Surat's textile units, so the Bhubaneswar page is worth reading if your buyer is Odia.

Our regional language influencer marketing page explains how we cast by language and review scripts.

The Surat creator scene

Food comes first. Surat's locho, khaman, sev khamani, ponk in winter, undhiyu at Uttarayan and ghari on Chandani Padvo give food creators year-round material, and they film in the lanes and shops where locals eat.

Fashion creators follow, because the city supplies a large share of the sarees and dress material that Indian shops and online sellers stock. They show draping, occasion wear and fabric, and many sell on the side. Jewellery and diamond creators explain stones, certification and gifting, and a growing set covers lab-grown diamonds. Fitness, property and comedy creators fill out the consumer city, particularly in Vesu, Adajan and Piplod, where new apartments and cafés have opened.

What Surat brands use creators for

  • Textiles and ethnic wear. Fashion and apparel brands run consumer try-ons and reseller recruitment together.
  • Diamonds and jewellery. Retail brands use creators for bridal, gifting and care content. Natural and lab-grown stones must be named clearly.
  • D2C labels sourced from Surat. Many D2C brands that sell nationally manufacture or source here, so a Surat creator can show the making.
  • Food and restaurants. Restaurants and QSR campaigns work best at neighbourhood level.
  • Property and services. New developments in Vesu, Adajan and Pal use creators for site tours and neighbourhood guides.

Diamonds, lab-grown stones and honest claims

Surat's diamond industry now includes lab-grown stones, and jewellery brands selling them to consumers face a particular risk: scripts that blur the line between natural and lab-grown. A creator who says "real diamond" without saying which kind is making a claim the brand may not be able to defend.

Our brief for any diamond or jewellery campaign asks the brand to state what each product is, what certificate it carries and what the return policy is, and it asks creators to repeat that in plain words. Under the Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisements and Endorsements for Misleading Advertisements, 2022, the Central Consumer Protection Authority can fine advertisers and endorsers up to ₹10 lakh, and up to ₹50 lakh for repeat contraventions, and endorsers carry due-diligence duties. We take that seriously on both sides of the contract. This is general information, not legal advice.

For trade audiences, such as recruiting cutters or showing a manufacturer's capability, LinkedIn and B2B creators are a better channel than lifestyle creators.

Surat's campaign calendar

  • Uttarayan (14 January). Kite flying, manjha, undhiyu and jalebi. Rooftop, food, sports and apparel brands.
  • Holi and wedding season (March, and November to February). Ethnic wear, jewellery, caterers, planners.
  • Navratri (September to October). Garba outfits, jewellery, make-up, beauty and food, with fashion content that begins a month before.
  • Chandani Padvo (the day after Sharad Purnima). Surat's ghari tradition. Sweets and bakery brands.
  • Diwali and Gujarati New Year (October to November). Gifting, gold, home, sweets, apparel.
  • Chhath (November). Observed by families from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh who live in the city.
  • The trade's own rhythm. Traders order ahead of festivals and weddings, so reseller and B2B content works best two to three months before the retail peak.

Lunar dates shift every year, so we fix the calendar before we fix the content. Many workers in Surat's mills and workshops travel home around Diwali, Holi and Chhath, so market and unit schedules thin out in those weeks. We plan trade shoots and B2B pushes around that, not into it.

Where Surat shoots and meets

Dumas Road and the Dumas beach area suits lifestyle and food shoots, though the beach has its own local rules. The Tapi riverfront and Surat Castle work for heritage and fashion content. Vesu and Adajan hold the cafés and gyms creators already use. VR Surat and Rahul Raj Mall are private properties and need management permission. Ring Road textile markets are best filmed in the early hours with the shop owners' agreement, since daytime crowds and dispatch make filming difficult. The Diamond Bourse and diamond units are restricted business premises and need explicit approval. For a creator meetup we choose a Vesu or Adajan café or hotel hall; see creator events and meetups.

How we run it: separate streams for separate Surats

  1. Brief. We ask whether the goal is consumers, resellers, B2B buyers or all three, and plan each as a separate stream.
  2. Plan in 48 hours. Each stream gets its own creators, formats, scripts and metrics, with a Gully Score for every creator.
  3. Claims check. Fabric, price, "wholesale" and earnings claims are checked against what the brand can substantiate.
  4. Contracts and disclosure. Each post carries a label upfront, and usage rights cover ad use. Rules are in our ASCI explainer.
  5. Tracked chats. For reseller goals, we use click-to-WhatsApp links per creator so chats can be counted.
  6. Report. Views, saves, chats, orders and reseller sign-ups, with cost per result by creator.

Surat with Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Pune

Gujarat brands often run Surat with other cities, and textile and jewellery brands usually want Mumbai's buyers too. Our pages on an influencer marketing agency in Ahmedabad, in Mumbai and in Pune explain how those streams are planned, and the city hub lists every market. Influencer marketing in India is the place to start if the channel is new. Frequently asked questions

Does a New Delhi agency need a Surat office to run a campaign?

No. We are based in New Delhi. Surat campaigns run through Surat creators, with market-association permissions and sample logistics arranged in planning and a strategist travelling in for shoots and launches. We do not need a desk in the city to deliver, and we would not pretend to have one.

How much does an influencer marketing company in Surat charge for a reseller campaign?

Two parts: creator fees, which follow national bands by tier and goal, and an agency fee that published benchmarks put at about 15 to 25 percent of creator spend. Reseller and B2B goals add tracking costs, such as per-creator WhatsApp links. The influencer rates guide shows the creator ranges.

Can influencers help a Surat textile brand recruit resellers?

Yes. Creators who run or advise reseller businesses can show catalogues, margins and how to start. We track click-to-WhatsApp chats and sign-ups per creator. Claims about earnings must be provable and never promised. See our page on performance influencer marketing.

Which creators work for diamond and jewellery brands in Surat?

Jewellery stylists, bridal creators and educator-style creators who can explain certification and the difference between natural and lab-grown stones plainly. Scripts must be exact about what the stone is. Trade-only content for jewellers and manufacturers works through LinkedIn and B2B creators.

Do I need Gujarati or Hindi creators in Surat?

Gujarati for local consumer brands and the city's identity-led content. Hindi for brands that sell to Surat's migrant communities and to buyers across north and central India. Many campaigns use both. Our regional language service explains how we cast by language.

How early should a Surat saree brand brief before the wedding season?

Ten to twelve weeks before the retail peak. Textile traders order ahead of demand, creators fill up early and product kits need time to ship. The creator plan takes 48 hours, contracts a week, and a micro-influencer campaign goes live two to three weeks after approval.

Can creators film inside Surat's textile markets?

Usually with permission. Market associations and individual shop owners have their own rules, and crowds are heavy in daytime. We arrange access and film in the early hours, before dispatch starts. The Diamond Bourse and diamond units are restricted business premises and need explicit approval.
