In short

  • We run Mumbai campaigns with local creators and a remote strategy team from New Delhi, and we travel to Mumbai for shoots, launches and meetups.
  • Mumbai's creator mix runs on Marathi, Hindi and English, with strong beauty, fashion, food, finance and film-adjacent content.
  • Mid, macro and celebrity creators here often work through managers, so allow 4 to 6 weeks for big-name deals and book the slots early.
  • Finance creators need ASCI-required qualifications and, for investment talk, a SEBI registration number shown. Brands carry responsibility too.

A Mumbai brand has two things to settle before anything else: which Mumbai it is selling to, and who can be on set in Andheri by Thursday. Influencer Gully answers both from New Delhi. Mumbai creators carry the campaign, our strategy team plans and reports it centrally, and we travel to the city for the days that need us. There is no Mumbai office, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend.

Send the brief and the creator plan, with named shortlist, content plan and costs, is back with you 48 hours after the call. The sections below explain how Mumbai's creator scene differs from Delhi's, what its brand clusters ask for, and how we plan around the city's calendar and geography.

Why Mumbai creators are a different casting problem

Mumbai has an unusually tight overlap between creators, talent managers, production crews and brand teams. Many mid and macro creators work through managers, agencies or both, which changes three things about a brief.

You negotiate with a manager, not the creator. Rates, usage rights and exclusivity are discussed commercially, and published benchmarks suggest managers take about 15 to 25 percent of macro and celebrity fees. Expect a longer loop than with a micro creator who answers on WhatsApp.

Calendars fill early. Creators with film, OTT or brand-ambassador commitments book out ahead of Ganeshotsav and Diwali. For celebrity and mega deals we plan 4 to 6 weeks from brief to live.

Craft is higher but so is the cost of mismatch. A polished creator with a Bollywood-adjacent audience may reach millions and still sell little to a Marathi-speaking family in Thane. That is why buyer fit is 20 points of the Gully Score and audience city split is part of the 30 points for authenticity. See our how we work page.

Languages and niches: where Mumbai content is strong

LanguageWhere it landsBest-fit categories
Hindi (Mumbaiya) and HinglishThe city's lingua franca, from Bandra cafés to BorivaliAlmost everything: beauty, food, apps, FMCG
MarathiOlder neighbourhoods such as Dadar, Girgaon and Lalbaug, plus Thane, Navi Mumbai and the Pune corridorFood, regional fashion, festivals, family brands
EnglishSouth Mumbai, Bandra, Powai and Lower Parel professionalsPremium beauty, finance, fashion, hospitality
GujaratiBusiness and trading communities in Kandivali, Borivali, Ghatkopar and south MumbaiJewellery, sweets, finance, home brands

On niche, Mumbai leads in beauty and fashion (proximity to stylists, makeup artists and studios), food and café content, personal finance, and celebrity and film-adjacent commentary. Fitness and parenting creators are strong too, with audiences that are often spread across India rather than the city alone. Kannada, Tamil, Bengali and other regional creators also live in Mumbai, which helps when a Mumbai-based brand wants to test other markets without leaving town. For that we mix local casting with regional influencers in the target city.

Industries based in Mumbai and what they want

Entertainment and OTT. Film City in Goregaon, studios across Andheri and Malad and the production houses behind TV and OTT mean launches here are about trailers, release windows and fan conversation. Creators are asked for reaction content, meme-page seeding and event coverage.

Finance and fintech. The Bombay Stock Exchange sits on Dalal Street, the National Stock Exchange and SEBI at Bandra Kurla Complex, and the Reserve Bank in Fort. That is why finance creators concentrate here, and why this category carries the most rules. Under ASCI's Addendum II of 6 March 2025, influencers who give technical advice or comment on the merits of investments must hold the relevant qualifications and state them upfront, and for stocks and investments that means SEBI registration with the number shown. SEBI's circular of 22 October 2024 stops regulated entities from associating with unregistered people who give securities advice. Creators who only explain generic concepts are treated differently from those who recommend products, so the brief must draw that line. This is general information, not legal advice. See fintech influencer marketing and the ASCI influencer guidelines.

FMCG, beauty and fashion. Several FMCG and consumer-goods companies run national marketing from Mumbai, and beauty and fashion D2C brands cluster around the city's stylists and studios. Their briefs usually demand national reach with city-level proof, often in two or three languages.

Hospitality and restaurants. Bandra, Lower Parel, Colaba and Juhu compete for the same food creators, and openings are won or lost on the first fortnight.

Where Mumbai briefs go wrong

  • Buying the biggest reach for a neighbourhood offer. A café in Dadar or a salon in Thane gains little from a creator whose audience lives across India. Match the audience city to the outlet.
  • Briefing one language for the whole city. A Hinglish script may reach Bandra and miss Girgaon. Test a Marathi version for the neighbourhoods that speak it.
  • Leaving Ganeshotsav and monsoon out of the schedule. Both can cancel or slow a shoot at short notice.
  • Skipping the manager. For macro and celebrity creators, a post that goes live without the manager's sign-off on usage rights can be pulled down later.

The Mumbai calendar

Festival dates move each year, so these are seasons, not fixed dates.

WindowMomentBrand play
January to early FebruaryMumbai Marathon, Kala Ghoda Arts FestivalFitness, apparel, art and café brands
March to MayIPL home matches for the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede, summer launchesBeverages, tech, sports, apps
June to SeptemberMonsoonRainwear, skincare, hot food, delivery apps; outdoor shoots need backup dates
August to SeptemberDahi Handi, Ganeshotsav, Bandra Fair (Mount Mary)Sweets, decor, gifting, family brands
September to OctoberNavratri, with garba nights in the western suburbsEthnic wear, jewellery, makeup, footwear
October to NovemberDhanteras and DiwaliGifting, appliances, beauty sets, travel
Ramzan (moves about 11 days earlier each year)Iftar nights around Mohammed Ali RoadFood, dates and beverages, regional fashion
DecemberMood Indigo at IIT Bombay, Christmas, year-end partiesFests, gifting, hospitality

Two Mumbai quirks matter operationally. Monsoon can cancel an outdoor shoot at short notice, so we build one backup date and an indoor fallback into every June to September plan. And Ganeshotsav closes roads and slows the city for about ten days, so schedule creator meetups for the start or end of that run, not the middle.

Mumbai by train line: where content gets shot

Mumbai's geography is shaped by its local trains, and creators' availability tends to follow it.

ZoneWhat it offersUse it for
South Mumbai (Colaba, Fort, Marine Drive)Heritage buildings, Gateway of India, Sassoon Dock, café lanesPremium and heritage brands, fashion editorials
Bandra and KharLinking Road, Bandstand, Carter Road, café and boutique clustersFood, beauty, fashion, creator meetups
Juhu, Andheri and VersovaFilm-industry neighbourhoods, beaches, studiosEntertainment tie-ins, UGC shoots, quick product shots

PowaiHiranandani Gardens, the lake, tech officesApps, tech reviews, fitness
Thane and Navi MumbaiLarge residential beltsFamily, home and value brands

Public-place shoots in Mumbai usually need permissions, and beaches and the Marine Drive promenade fill up in the evenings. Permits are checked with the venue before a shoot day is confirmed.

How we run it in Mumbai

Brief, plan, vetting, contracts, approvals, launch and reporting run as set out on how we work. Mumbai changes four things.

  1. Casting is city-first. We start from Mumbai-based creators in our network of 50,000+ creators and filter by the audience city split in their insights, so a Dadar offer does not go to a creator whose followers live mostly elsewhere.
  2. Briefs follow the camera language. Each creator gets the brief in the language they will speak on screen, and the Marathi and Hinglish versions are checked separately.
  3. Manager-led deals get tighter paper. Contracts for creators with managers spell out usage rights, exclusivity windows and the ASCI disclosure label before a date is held.
  4. Someone from our team is there when it matters. A strategist travels from New Delhi for shoot days and launches, and the travel appears as its own line in the cost estimate.

What it costs

There is no reliable published city rate card for Mumbai, so we price by tier, niche and rights. A 2026 creator-platform report puts typical campaign cost in metro cities at ₹3.8 to 4.5 lakh, against ₹35,000 to ₹90,000 in tier 3 and 4 cities, and metro engagement at 3 to 4 percent against 4.5 to 5.5 percent in smaller cities (a vendor estimate, not audited). The takeaway is not to avoid Mumbai but to put Mumbai creators where Mumbai buyers are, and use smaller-city creators for reach elsewhere.

DeliverableTypical range per creator
Micro (10K to 100K) Reel₹8,000 to ₹80,000
Mid-tier (100K to 500K) Reel₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh
Macro (500K to 1M) Reel₹2 lakh to ₹8 lakh
Mega (1M+) Reel₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh and above
CelebrityNegotiated per campaign, usually from ₹25 lakh

Usage rights and exclusivity add roughly 30 to 50 percent each in published rate cards. Our influencer rates guide explains the full build-up.

How Mumbai connects to nearby cities

Pune is the closest sister market, about three hours by road along the expressway, with a similar Marathi base and a younger student audience. To the north, Surat and Ahmedabad share Mumbai's Gujarati business communities, and Nagpur opens central Maharashtra. A Mumbai-led national plan usually adds Delhi NCR and a southern city. Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Mumbai?

No. Our team is based in New Delhi. For Mumbai campaigns we cast Mumbai-based creators, run strategy and reporting from Delhi, and travel to Mumbai for shoots, launches and creator meetups when the plan calls for it. You get one named strategist, a WhatsApp line and a weekly check-in whichever city you are in.

How much does influencer marketing cost in Mumbai?

Creator fees follow tier, niche and usage rights, not the city on the invoice. Instagram Reels run about ₹8,000 to ₹80,000 for micro creators and ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh for mid-tier ones. Budget for management fees on top. See the influencer rates guide or the cost calculator.

How do I choose the best influencer marketing agency in Mumbai?

Ask who will run your account day to day, how creators are vetted, what the contract covers and what the report shows. Check the agency can explain its shortlist beyond follower counts, with audience city split and engagement quality. Our guide to choosing an agency lists the questions.

Can you work with Marathi and Gujarati creators in Mumbai?

Yes. Marathi suits the city's older neighbourhoods and the Pune corridor, Gujarati reaches the trading and business communities in the western suburbs and south Mumbai, and Hindi plus English covers the rest. We pick the language from your buyer. See regional influencer marketing.

Are finfluencers allowed to promote investments in Mumbai?

Only under conditions. ASCI's March 2025 addendum requires influencers who comment on stocks or investments to be SEBI-registered and show the number upfront, and SEBI's October 2024 circular bars regulated entities from associating with unregistered advisers. See our fintech influencer marketing page. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can you book Bollywood or celebrity names from Mumbai?

Yes, through their managers or agencies. Celebrity and mega deals involve negotiation, legal review and usage terms, so we plan 4 to 6 weeks. We will tell you if a name is worth it for your goal or if a batch of micro creators would do more. See celebrity and macro influencers.

When is the best time to launch an influencer campaign in Mumbai?

It depends on the category. Gifting, beauty and fashion peak from Ganeshotsav through Diwali, food and cafés pick up around Navratri and Christmas, and monsoon launches work for rain-linked products. Plan six to eight weeks ahead of the date you want to be live.
