In short
- Published multipliers against a beauty baseline: finance 1.5x to 2x, tech 1.3x to 1.5x, parenting 1.2x to 1.5x, comedy 0.7x to 0.9x. We found none for food or gaming.
- At a ₹20,000 beauty-level Reel, finance costs ₹30,000 to ₹40,000, and ₹5 lakh buys 12 to 16 finance Reels against 25 beauty Reels.
- Part of the finance premium sits on rules: ASCI requires stated qualifications for technical advice and SEBI registration for stock tips. That narrows the pool (our reading).
- A booking platform reports 2026 fee rises of 40 to 70 percent for AI and tech creators but only 5 to 15 percent for food and travel.
Niche changes an influencer's price by more than most brands expect. One published guide puts finance creators at 1.5x to 2x a beauty baseline, tech at 1.3x to 1.5x, parenting at 1.2x to 1.5x and comedy at 0.7x to 0.9x. Another says finance and tech cost two to three times lifestyle or comedy creators with the same audience size. We found no published multiplier for food or gaming, and this post says so rather than inventing one.
Our guide to influencer marketing cost in India lists niche among the factors that move a quote. Here we take that factor apart: the published multipliers side by side, what they do to a real quote and a real budget, what each niche needs besides money, and how to price a niche that has no published figure. Run your numbers in the influencer cost calculator, and for the full picture read our complete guide to influencer marketing in India.
What the published multipliers say
| Niche | Published multiplier | Other published signals | 2026 fee movement (one booking platform) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finance | 1.5x to 2x a beauty baseline | A 60% to 120% premium (agency guide); 2x to 3x lifestyle or comedy (creator guide) | Personal finance +30% to 60% |
| Tech | 1.3x to 1.5x | 2x to 3x lifestyle or comedy | AI and tech +40% to 70% |
| Parenting | 1.2x to 1.5x | None found | None found |
| Beauty | 1.0x, the baseline | None needed | +10% to 20% |
| Food | None found | "Commoditised" (booking platform) | Food and travel +5% to 15% |
| Gaming | None found | None found | None found |
| Entertainment or comedy | 0.7x to 0.9x | The lifestyle baseline in another guide | None found |
Three cautions. The multipliers come from a single brand-deals guide, so they are one view. The guides use different baselines, one beauty and the other lifestyle or comedy. And the fee-movement column is a booking platform's claim about asking prices, not audited data.
The baselines roughly agree. If comedy is 0.7x to 0.9x of beauty, then two to three times comedy is about 1.4x to 2.7x beauty (our arithmetic), which overlaps the 1.5x to 2x finance range. Our calculator's premium-niche option adds 50 percent, or 1.5x, which sits in the lower half of finance and at the top of tech.
What the multipliers do to a quote and a budget
Take a micro beauty creator whose Reel costs ₹20,000 (a mid-band assumption), then apply the published ranges.
| Niche | Reel price at the published multiplier | Reels that ₹5 lakh buys |
|---|---|---|
| Comedy | ₹14,000 to ₹18,000 | 27 to 35 |
| Beauty | ₹20,000 | 25 |
| Parenting | ₹24,000 to ₹30,000 | 16 to 20 |
| Tech | ₹26,000 to ₹30,000 | 16 to 19 |
| Finance | ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 | 12 to 16 |
These are arithmetic on an assumed baseline, before GST, usage rights and any agency fee. The practical effect is on coverage. The same ₹5 lakh buys about half as many finance Reels as beauty Reels, which changes how many creators, cities or languages you can test. Our post on budget planning shows how to set the total.
Premiums stack, so ask how
A niche premium is rarely the only add-on. Suppose the niche multiplier is 1.5x, usage rights add 35 percent and 30-day exclusivity adds 40 percent. If the percentages are added to the base, the total is 2.25x the base. If they are multiplied, it is 1.5 × 1.35 × 1.4, which is 2.84x (our arithmetic). On a ₹20,000 baseline that is ₹45,000 against ₹56,700. We found no published source that says how cards stack them. Our calculator and worked budgets add them. Ask each creator which method the quote uses, and write it down.
Why niches price differently
Published sources report the premiums but do not explain them. These are the sourced facts, with our reading kept separate.
Sourced. ASCI's Addendum II (6 March 2025) says influencers giving technical advice on stocks and investments must hold SEBI registration and show the number, and those advising on other financial or health topics must hold relevant qualifications and state them upfront. ASCI narrowed this on 28 April 2025: qualifications are needed only where technical information or advice is given, and generic content does not need them. SEBI's circular of 22 October 2024 bars regulated entities from associating with unregistered people who give securities advice. The rules are on ASCI's guidelines page and in SEBI's circular.
Our reading. Rules narrow the pool of finance creators a brand can use, and that supports a premium. Tech creators price on the cost of a considered purchase and on how long a review takes. Food and beauty have deep supply. No source we read confirms these as the causes. This is general information, not legal advice.
Niche notes
Finance
Expect the highest quotes and the longest checks. For stock and investment content, confirm SEBI registration and ask to see the number on screen. For other financial advice, ask for the credential (CA, CS, an insurance licence) and where it will be displayed. General financial-literacy content may not need credentials under ASCI's narrowed update, so scope the brief carefully. Have your compliance team review scripts. Finance is also one of the faster-rising niches, with personal finance up 30 to 60 percent in the booking platform's report, so book early. See fintech and BFSI influencer marketing.
Tech
A tech review costs more than the Reel price suggests, because it is usually a long video or a detailed Reel with a review unit. Settle whether the creator keeps the device. A product the creator keeps counts as a benefit: under section 194R, a 10 percent TDS applies once benefits to one person pass ₹20,000 in a financial year, and most laptops and many phones pass that on their own. A unit returned after the review does not count. TaxGuru's summary of the CBDT FAQs explains the valuation. This is general information, not tax advice. See tech and gadget influencer marketing.
Beauty
Beauty is the baseline, with deep supply and a moderate fee rise of 10 to 20 percent in the platform's 2026 report. The risk is claims, not cost. ASCI's annual report for FY2025-26 lists personal care as 16.9 percent of influencer violations, second to betting. Brief only the claims you can substantiate and give each creator the ingredient and test details. See beauty and skincare influencer marketing.
Food
Food is the commoditised niche: plentiful creators, no published multiplier and the smallest reported fee rise. That makes it a good fit for barter and local seeding, with the usual label and tax rules, covered in our barter collaboration guide. Price from average views and compare several quotes. See FMCG, food and beverage influencer marketing.
Gaming
We found no published multiplier. Gaming has its own price drivers: whether you buy a live stream or a video, average concurrent viewers for streamers, and average views for YouTube channels. ASCI says live streams must announce the paid partnership at the start and the end. Brand safety needs more attention than elsewhere, because illegal betting was the largest category of ASCI's influencer violations in FY2025-26 at 54 percent, so check each creator's recent content. A 2025 cold-coffee launch used a lead streamer plus 27 other Minecraft streamers, according to trade press; we do not know what it cost. See gaming and esports influencer marketing.
Parenting
Parenting sits at 1.2x to 1.5x in the one published guide. Trust is what you pay for, and children often appear in the content. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act and Rules require verifiable parental consent and bar tracking and targeted advertising aimed at children, per PIB, with the main duties phasing in from around May 2027. If you plan to run a post featuring a child as an ad, write the consent and the usage period into the contract. This is general information, not legal advice. See parenting and baby influencer marketing.
How to price a niche with no published multiplier
For gaming, food, home, travel and most niches beyond finance and tech, no guide gives a figure. Use this method instead.
- Get three quotes from creators of the same tier in the niche, on the same format.
- Divide each fee by average views over the last 10 to 15 posts.
- Compare with the beauty baseline for the same tier from our Instagram rates or YouTube rates posts.
- Check engagement against the tier range with the engagement rate calculator.
- Ask what the premium covers. Niche authority, rights and a scripted segment each cost something. If a creator charges extra, ask for it as a separate line.
Example: checking a finance quote

Frequently asked questions
Which influencer niches charge the most in India?
Finance and tech. Published guides put finance at 1.5x to 2x a beauty baseline and tech at 1.3x to 1.5x. Another guide puts both at two to three times lifestyle or comedy creators with the same audience size. See the rates guide for tier ranges and the niche factors.
How much more do finance influencers charge?
One brand-deals guide says 1.5x to 2x a beauty baseline. A digital agency guide puts the premium at 60 to 120 percent. A creator-education guide says two to three times lifestyle or comedy. All are asking-price claims. Ask finance creators for credentials and average views before you accept a premium.
Why are finance influencers more expensive?
Published sources report the premium but do not explain it. Our reading is that rules narrow the pool: ASCI requires stated qualifications for technical financial advice, and SEBI registration for stock and investment advice. See our guide to fintech and BFSI influencer marketing. That is our inference, not a published finding.
How much do gaming influencers charge in India?
We found no published niche multiplier for gaming. Price gaming creators from average views, live concurrency for streamers and the tier ranges, then compare three quotes. Check brand safety carefully, because illegal betting was the largest category of ASCI's influencer violations in FY2025-26. See gaming and esports influencer marketing.
Are food influencers cheaper than other niches?
One booking platform calls lifestyle and food creators commoditised, and reports 2026 fee rises of 5 to 15 percent for food and travel against 40 to 70 percent for AI and tech. No guide gives a food multiplier. Supply is deep and barter is common, so price from views and ask for several quotes.
How should I budget for a niche premium?
Price a baseline creator first, then multiply by the published range for the niche, and treat the result as a ceiling for your ask. Our influencer cost calculator adds a 50 percent premium-niche option, which sits inside the finance range and at the top of the tech range.
