In short

  • Plan two states, not one market: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have separate governments, separate state festivals and a creator's audience can sit in only one of them.
  • Britannica describes four regional Telugu dialects, so brief creators in the accent of the audience state and check audience location in each creator's insights.
  • The Godavari Pushkaralu, 26 June to 7 July 2027, is the year's biggest shared moment for travel, ticketing and local retail brands, and it needs a respectful tone.
  • A 14-week pilgrimage-ticketing test costs about ₹8.6 lakh in creator fees, before management fee, GST and creator ads.

Brands doing influencer marketing in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are planning for two states that share a language: one script, two governments, two sets of festivals and several accents. Plan one Telugu creative and two audience cohorts, cast by dialect, and time the year around Sankranti, Ugadi and, in 2027, the Godavari Pushkaralu. The pillar guide is influencer marketing in India, and our regional influencer marketing service covers the casting.

Our Hyderabad page covers the city, Tollywood and the festival calendar there. This post covers what sits above it: the two-state decision, the dialect map and the pilgrimage moment of 2027. Neighbouring plans are in our playbooks for Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Two states, one language, and why the split matters

Telangana became a separate state on 2 June 2014. Hyderabad was kept as a shared capital for no more than ten years, and that arrangement ended on 2 June 2024, since when Hyderabad has been Telangana's capital alone (Telangana Today). For a brand, three things follow.

  • Creators are not interchangeable. A Hyderabad creator may have a mostly Telangana audience. An Andhra audience may follow a creator in Visakhapatnam or Vijayawada. Read the state split in each creator's insights.
  • Festivals and holidays differ. Bathukamma and Bonalu were declared official state festivals of Telangana in 2014 (Business Standard); Sankranti is a major moment in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Ad targeting works by state. A creator post run as a creator ad can be shown in one state and not the other, so you can match the offer to the audience.

Urdu is Telangana's second official language (Business Standard), and Hyderabad has Hindi-Urdu speaking communities. Use Telugu for the main plan and add a Hindi-Urdu cohort only where your product sells to those communities.

Four Telugus, and how we cast them

Britannica describes four regional dialects of Telugu, plus social dialects tied to education, class and caste, and says Modern Standard Telugu is based on the speech and writings of the elite of the central coastal dialect (Britannica). Two practical points follow. A script written in the standard register leans coastal, and a Telangana audience can hear that. And the formal literary language differs from everyday speech, so the creator should speak, not recite.

Our casting map is a working tool, not a linguistic claim.

Casting zoneTownsWhat to check

Coastal AndhraVijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam, RajahmundryThe register closest to standard Telugu; check the audience is in the state you sell in

The Godavari Pushkaralu, 26 June to 7 July 2027

The Andhra Pradesh government's order, reported by PTI, sets the Godavari Pushkarams from 26 June for 12 days to 7 July 2027, with dates based on the opinion of a TTD astrologer (ThePrint). Telangana is also preparing: its industries minister said it would be organised on the lines of the Kumbh Mela, and the state has identified 96 sites along the river (Telangana Today). One district government site published different dates earlier, so confirm before booking.

For brands, the Pushkaralu is a travel and logistics moment with a devotional core. Rules we would apply:

  • Be useful, not clever. Transport, stays, food, parking, safety and cleanliness content works. Jokes about rituals and branded stunts at ghats do not.
  • Check permissions. Shoots at ghats and temples need the local administration's approval; ask your creator for it in writing.
  • Keep claims precise. Availability, prices and timings in a ticketing or stay offer must match what you can deliver on the day.
  • Use creators with a real link to the river towns, in Rajahmundry and the Telangana sites along the Godavari, not outsiders flown in for a weekend.

Platforms, buyers and formats

Neither state publishes platform use in a form we would quote, so the table is a test plan. The working view: Telugu YouTube carries long reviews, vlogs and food trails, Instagram Reels carry the younger audience, and creator ads let you target one state at a time, which a single creator post cannot do on its own.

ObjectiveCreator and formatWhere to start
Installs and first ordersTelugu micro creators, Reels and Shorts with a link and codeHyderabad and Vijayawada
Store footfallLocal nano creators, Story sets with a mapThe town of each store
Festival giftingFamily and food creators, a Sankranti or Ugadi role for the productBoth states, in separate cohorts
Pilgrimage travelTravel and devotional vloggers, YouTube integrationsRajahmundry and nearby river towns

Our guide to how to run a YouTube influencer campaign covers the long-form format, and hiring influencers for app installs covers the install funnel.

How to split a first budget between the two states

Do not split by population or by habit. Split by your own data, then adjust for what you want to learn. The table below is our planning view, not a published norm.

Your situationFirst-wave splitWhat you learn
You sell mostly in Hyderabad and little in AndhraAbout 70 percent Telangana, 30 percent AndhraWhether a Telugu voice opens Andhra at all
You sell evenly across bothAbout 50 percent each, as two cohortsWhich state is cheaper per result
You have no sales in eitherAbout 50 percent each, six creators per cohort at leastWhere the first customers come from
You sell through stores in a few townsWeight by store towns, not by stateWhether a creator lifts store visits in a small town

Whatever the split, keep the offer, landing page and code scheme identical, so the only difference is the state. Prefix codes by state (for example BRAND-TG and BRAND-AP) and read the cohort median, not the best creator. Our guide to how many influencers you need explains why six per cohort is the floor, and our regional versus national guide shows how to avoid reading one lucky post as a trend.

Writing for two Telugu audiences

For the review calendar, use our regional campaign guide; Telugu adds three points.

Accent is part of the brief. Name the audience state, and ask the creator to confirm the accent fits it. A Telangana script voiced in a coastal accent, or the reverse, is the commonest reason a Telugu post feels borrowed.

Speak, do not recite. Britannica notes that the formal literary language differs from the spoken dialects. A creator reading a formal line sounds like a presenter, so give beats and let the creator choose the words.

Keep the on-screen layer in Telugu. The offer, the code and the disclosure label can all be in Telugu script; ASCI allows English or the language of the ad, as long as the label is upfront, prominent and easy to understand (ASCI). Have a native reader check how the brand name is written in Telugu script, ask for English subtitles for your sign-off and for later creator-ad reuse with fresh rights, and pay on sign-off of the final video.

What a Telugu-states campaign costs

The published asking prices in our rates guide apply here as elsewhere.

DeliverableTypical range per creator
Nano Reel₹2,000 to ₹10,000
Micro Reel₹8,000 to ₹80,000
Micro YouTube Short₹8,000 to ₹40,000
Micro YouTube integration (60 to 90 s)₹15,000 to ₹60,000

The decision that moves this plan most is whether to run creator posts as ads, because a state-by-state split needs it. Take a ₹25,000 micro Reel. Rights for 90 days of creator ads add about 35 percent in our planning, giving ₹33,750. If the brand wants to run the ad from the creator's own handle, one published guide puts whitelisting at 60 to 120 percent above an organic post, which would make the same Reel ₹40,000 to ₹55,000, and says the ad spend itself usually runs two to four times the creator fee. That guide is a single low-confidence source, so ask for both quotes. Our guide to influencer whitelisting cost breaks down the lines.

One agency guide says regional-language YouTube channels cost 40 to 60 percent less than Hindi or English ones; treat it as a hypothesis, since Tollywood-adjacent channels can price far above it. Published benchmarks suggest management fees of 15 to 25 percent of creator spend, and the cost calculator builds the sum.

Where Telugu-states plans go wrong

Brands read one cohort for two states, so a Telangana win hides an Andhra miss. They write in a coastal register for every audience, and Telangana viewers hear it. They build a Hyderabad-only creator list, which leaves out Andhra's towns and Rayalaseema. They treat the Pushkaralu as a stunt, when the tone is devotional and the logistics carry the value. And they take audience claims on trust, so ask for state and city screenshots before you pay.

We reply within two working hours, and the plan with costs follows within 48 hours of the brief call. Frequently asked questions

Should a brand run one Telugu campaign for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana?

Start with one Telugu plan and two audience cohorts, one per state. The language is shared but accents, state festivals and holidays differ, and ad targeting works by state. Compare cost per result by state after the first wave. See our Hyderabad page for the city and the regional influencer service.

How many Telugu dialects are there for casting?

Britannica describes four regional dialects of Telugu, covering Telangana, the coast, Rayalaseema and a transitional zone, and notes that standard Telugu is based on central coastal speech. For brand work we cast three zones plus Hyderabad and let each creator's audience data decide.

When is the Godavari Pushkaralu and why does it matter to brands?

A government order reported by PTI sets it from 26 June to 7 July 2027, and Telangana has identified 96 sites along the river. It affects travel, ticketing, food, accommodation and local retail. Content must be respectful, and any shoot at a ghat needs the local administration's permission.

Which festivals matter most for Telugu brand campaigns?

Sankranti with Bhogi and Kanuma on 14 to 17 January 2027, Ugadi on 7 April, Bonalu in Hyderabad mid-year, Ganesh Chaturthi on 4 September, Bathukamma and Dasara from late September and Diwali on 29 October. Confirm dates against each state's holiday list.

How much does influencer marketing cost in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana?

Creator fees follow national asking prices: about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 for a nano Reel, ₹8,000 to ₹80,000 for a micro Reel and ₹15,000 to ₹60,000 for a micro YouTube integration. Add rights, ads, GST and a management fee. See the influencer rates guide.

Do Telugu creators need a Hindi or Urdu layer in Hyderabad?

Sometimes. Urdu is Telangana's second official language, and Hyderabad has Hindi-Urdu speaking communities. Use Telugu for the main plan and add a Hyderabadi Hindi-Urdu cohort only where your product sells to those communities. Test it in a small group before scaling.
