Finance influencer rates in India: how SEBI and ASCI rules set the price

Published guides put finance creators at 1.5x to 2x a beauty baseline, and part of that premium sits on credentials and compliance. This post prices the formats a finance brand can buy, separates content that needs a qualified voice from content that does not, and shows how scoping the brief changes the bill.

In short

  • Published guides put finance creators at 1.5x to 2x a beauty baseline: ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 for a micro Reel that costs ₹20,000 at baseline.
  • ASCI requires stated qualifications only where technical advice is given, so a brief split between generic and technical content avoids buying credentials the content does not need.
  • In our example, casting 8 generic and 6 technical creators instead of 14 credentialed ones saves ₹80,000 to ₹1.6 lakh in fees, before the 20% fee and GST.
  • A per-signup payout to a finance creator is money plus a client referral under SEBI's FAQ, so the pay structure needs legal sign-off as well as the script.

Finance influencers in India typically cost 1.5x to 2x what a beauty creator of the same size charges, so a micro Reel that costs ₹20,000 at baseline costs ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 in finance. A dedicated review on a 500,000-subscriber finance channel is quoted at ₹5 lakh to ₹12 lakh. The premium is not a flat tax on every finance post. In our reading it follows credentials and compliance, which means how you scope the brief changes how much of it you pay.

Tier rates live in the influencer marketing cost guide, and one finance quote is checked line by line in influencer fees by niche in India. What follows is the finance-only layer: who can say what, which formats fit each voice, the compliance work that never appears on a rate card, and a plan priced both ways. The rules are covered in fintech and BFSI influencer marketing and finfluencer rules under SEBI, and the wider channel in the complete guide to influencer marketing in India.

Four finance voices and what each one costs

VoiceWhat the rules askPrice signal
Money-habit or lifestyle creatorNo securities named, no advice. Generic content needs no stated qualificationClose to the baseline, 1.0x (our planning assumption)
Credentialed professional (CA, CS, IRDAI-licensed)Qualification stated upfront where technical advice is givenThe published finance range, 1.5x to 2x
SEBI-registered adviser or analystRegistration number shown for stock or investment adviceNo published figure above the finance range; quote individually
Educator who names no securitiesEducation only: no advice, no return claimsPriced in the finance range; the 30-day data rule applies

The source of the credential rules is ASCI's Addendum II of 6 March 2025. It expects SEBI registration, with the number shown, for influencers advising on stocks or investments, and suitable credentials such as an IRDAI licence, CA or CS for other financial advice. ASCI's update of 28 April 2025 says qualifications are needed only where technical information or advice is given. Whether a particular script is generic or technical is a call for your counsel. Our working rule is that anything naming a security, a fund, a price or a return is technical.

Five finance formats and the rule each meets

FormatPrice anchorThe check before booking
Concept explainer ReelMicro Reel ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 in finance (1.5x to 2x of ₹20,000)No named security. Any market price shown must respect SEBI's 30-day window
App walkthrough ReelBaseline to 1.5x, depending on the creatorShow fees and risks. No claim of returns
YouTube integration on a finance channel₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh on a mid-sized channelCredentials on screen at the start; compliance signs the script
Dedicated YouTube review₹5 lakh to ₹12 lakh on a 500,000-subscriber channelAs above, plus a check of the whole channel's recent content
LinkedIn post by a finance professional₹40,000 to ₹2.4 lakh for 30,000 to 100,000 followersA clear label. ASCI recorded 121 LinkedIn disclosure violations in FY2024-25

The two YouTube reference points come from one agency guide, and its LinkedIn range from the same source. They are asking prices, not audited deals. See LinkedIn influencer rates in India for the platform in more depth.

What compliance adds that is not on the rate card

  • Whole-feed vetting. SEBI's rule attaches to the person, not the post. A regulated brand or its agent may not associate with someone who gives unregistered securities advice or claims returns, on any channel. That means reading a creator's last 90 days before you contract, and again mid-campaign. SEBI's circular carries the wording.
  • Script review. One hour of counsel or compliance time per script is our planning figure, not a market rate. Fifteen scripts is fifteen hours.
  • Revision rounds. Two are standard. Finance scripts often need a third after compliance comments. Further rounds run ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 each in one booking platform's guide.
  • Sourcing time. A WPP Media and Kantar study found 95% of BFSI brands struggle to find the right creators, against about 83% of all brands, per Campaign India. The shortlist takes longer, and credential checks are part of what an agency's management fee pays for.
  • Pay structure. SEBI's FAQ of 29 January 2025 describes association as money, client referral or system interplay. A per-signup payout is money and a referral together. Take legal advice before tying a finance creator's pay to signups, and see our performance influencer marketing page for how structures differ.

This is general information, not legal advice.

The evidence file you pay for

A credential you have not checked is a claim, not a qualification. For each creator, collect the proof before the contract and keep a dated copy.

Creator saysCollectCheck
SEBI-registeredRegistration number and categoryAgainst SEBI's own published lists, and that the number appears on screen
IRDAI-licensed, CA or CSLicence or membership numberAgainst the issuing body's own register, where it publishes one
Generic content onlyA written statement of what the creator does and does not advise onThe last 90 days of the feed, for tips, return claims and betting promotions
Any of the aboveAgreement to re-check mid-campaignThe feed again at the half-way point and at the end

This is the work our Gully Score brand-safety check formalises, and it is why we ask for the feed history before we quote.

The split brief: buy the credential only where the content needs it

Most finance campaigns mix content that needs a qualified voice with content that does not. A walkthrough of how to set up an automatic savings rule inside your app, with no security named and no return claimed, may not need a credentialed creator. A video explaining how to pick between two funds does. Casting both with the same premium creators costs more and, in our reading, does not make the generic content safer.

Price for one creatorBaseline, 1.0x1.5x2x
Micro Reel₹20,000₹30,000₹40,000
Mid-tier YouTube integration₹1,25,000₹1,87,500₹2,50,000

Put the two columns in a plan and the gap is visible. Eight generic walkthrough creators at the baseline cost ₹1.6 lakh. The same eight cast at the premium cost ₹2.4 lakh to ₹3.2 lakh, so ₹80,000 to ₹1.6 lakh more for no gain in what they may say.

Example: a split-brief plan for an investing app

LineBasisAt 1.5xAt 2x
Generic walkthrough Reels8 micro at ₹20,000, baseline₹1,60,000₹1,60,000
Credentialed micro Reels4 at ₹20,000 times the premium₹1,20,000₹1,60,000
YouTube integrations2 mid-tier at ₹1,25,000 times the premium₹3,75,000₹5,00,000
LinkedIn post1 finance professional at ₹1,00,000₹1,00,000₹1,00,000
Base creator fees₹7,55,000₹9,20,000
30-day exclusivity against rival apps+40% on the two YouTube integrations₹1,50,000₹2,00,000
Compliance revision reserve6 creators at ₹10,000 beyond two rounds₹60,000₹60,000
Creator spend₹9,65,000₹11,80,000
Management fee20%, inside the published 15% to 25%₹1,93,000₹2,36,000
GST18% on creator spend and fee₹2,08,440₹2,54,880
All-in cost₹13,66,440₹16,70,880

The spread between the two columns is 22%, which is the value of knowing, before you ask for quotes, which end of the range your creators will land at. Not included: counsel's time (15 scripts at about an hour each), ad media, and any ad rights, which add 30% to 50% when a finance post is run as a paid ad. Ask counsel to look again before any finance post is promoted as an ad.

What a miss costs

Set the premium and the revision reserve against the cost of not paying them. ASCI's report for FY2025-26 found 97.3% of the 1,609 influencer ads it processed needed modification, and a repeat check of a leading creator list in 2025 found 76% still failed disclosure norms, per ASCI's half-yearly report. The ordinary cost of a miss is a re-edit, at ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 a round, and days of a live post that has to come down. The larger risk sits with regulated brands. SEBI's FAQ lists enquiry, adjudication and orders among the actions it may take against a regulated person, and its association test looks at what the creator does on every channel, not only the sponsored post. A ₹60,000 reserve is small beside that.

Budget for the rise

One booking platform reports 2026 fee rises of 30% to 60% for personal-finance creators. As asking-price claims they are not audited, but they matter for a plan that runs into next year: a ₹30,000 Reel quoted last year would be ₹39,000 to ₹48,000 now (our arithmetic). Book early and ask for the price to hold across the campaign and a follow-up wave.

Frequently asked questions

How much do finance influencers charge in India?

One brand-deals guide puts finance at 1.5x to 2x a beauty baseline, an agency guide at a 60% to 120% premium, and a creator guide at two to three times lifestyle. On a ₹20,000 baseline Reel that is ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 at 1.5x to 2x. A dedicated review on a 500,000-subscriber finance channel is quoted at ₹5 lakh to ₹12 lakh. See influencer rates in India.

Why are finance influencers more expensive than other creators?

Published sources report the premium without explaining it. Our reading is that rules shrink the pool. ASCI expects SEBI registration for stock and investment advice and suitable qualifications for other financial advice, and 95% of BFSI brands in one 2025 study struggle to find the right creators. See fintech and BFSI influencer marketing.

Do finance creators need SEBI registration?

ASCI's Addendum II expects SEBI registration, with the number shown, for influencers advising on stocks or investments, and suitable credentials such as an IRDAI licence, CA or CS for other financial advice. ASCI narrowed this on 28 April 2025: qualifications are needed only where technical information or advice is given. This is general information, not legal advice. See finfluencer rules under SEBI.

Can I pay a finance creator per signup?

SEBI's FAQ treats money and client referrals as association, so a per-signup payout is both. If you are a SEBI-regulated person or its agent, you may not associate with someone who gives unregistered securities advice or claims returns. Get legal advice before tying pay to signups. This is general information, not legal advice. See performance influencer marketing.

How much does a compliance review add to a finance campaign?

No published figure exists. The cost is internal or legal time per script, plus revision rounds: two are standard, and further rounds run ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 each in one booking platform's guide. In our example we reserve ₹60,000 for six creators and count one hour of counsel time per script. See the compliance checklist for brands.

Are LinkedIn finance creators cheaper than YouTube channels?

Published LinkedIn asking prices run ₹40,000 to ₹2.4 lakh per post for 30,000 to 100,000 followers, against ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh for a YouTube integration on a mid-sized finance channel. ASCI recorded 121 LinkedIn disclosure violations in FY2024-25, so brief for labels. See LinkedIn influencer rates in India.

What is SEBI's 30-day rule for educational content?

SEBI's FAQ says a person doing only education should not use market price data of the preceding thirty days to speak about or display a security in a way that indicates future price, advice or a recommendation. The window was three months until 8 May 2026. Treat any script that names a security as a compliance item. See finfluencer rules under SEBI.
