In short
- Published guides put tech at 1.3x to 1.5x a beauty baseline, and a dedicated review on a 500,000-subscriber tech channel at ₹5 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
- A 60 to 90 second integration costs about 40% to 75% of a dedicated video at the same tier in our rate model, so format matters as much as channel.
- Whether a reviewer keeps the unit decides your tax paperwork: a kept ₹39,990 laptop passes the ₹20,000 line under section 194R on its own, a returned one does not.
- In our laptop example, ₹18.7 lakh of tech-adjusted fees becomes ₹32.5 lakh all-in, before review units. Against generic band prices that is 2.2 times.
Tech creators are priced by format first and channel size second. In published guides, a dedicated review on a 500,000-subscriber tech channel runs ₹5 lakh to ₹12 lakh, a 60 to 180 second integration on a mid-sized tech channel runs ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh, and tech fees sit 1.3x to 1.5x above a beauty baseline. Add embargo terms, exclusivity and a review unit that you carry on your own books, and the all-in cost climbs to about 1.7 times the tech-adjusted fees in our example below.
Start with the tier tables in our influencer marketing cost guide. The niche premium itself, with finance, beauty and the rest side by side, is in influencer fees by niche in India. Below we price tech by what a gadget brand actually orders: the format mix, the review, the embargo, the unit and a laptop plan. Category context sits in tech and gadget influencer marketing, and the whole channel is explained in the complete guide to influencer marketing in India.
Six tech formats, priced against a dedicated review
| Format | What the brand buys | Price in our rate model (mid-tier, before the tech premium) |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated review | A whole video on your product, with testing | ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh |
| First impressions or unboxing | An early look at the launch hour, under embargo | Quoted like a dedicated video |
| 60 to 90 second integration | A segment inside a normal video | ₹60,000 to ₹2.5 lakh |
| Roundup or comparison slot | A place in "best phones under ₹25,000" | Quoted like an integration; we found no published slot price |
| Long-term review | A second video after 30 or 90 days of use | A second dedicated video; ask to hold the first price |
| Short or Reel recap | A vertical cut for launch week | ₹40,000 to ₹1.5 lakh for a Short |
In our rate model an integration is 40% to 75% of a dedicated video at the same tier, and a Short is about 20% to 40% (our arithmetic). That is why the format mix moves a budget as much as the channel mix does. One dedicated review for credibility and several integrations in videos buyers already watch is usually cheaper than four dedicated reviews. See YouTube influencer marketing for how we plan the mix.
Tech is also the production-heavy niche. Benchmarks, camera comparisons, teardowns and a second device bought for a head-to-head all cost the creator money, and one rate card puts production from about ₹5,000 to several lakh. Ask whether the fee includes comparison devices and who owns them afterwards.
Price a review from views, not subscribers
A published rule of thumb takes average views, divides by 1,000 and multiplies by ₹100 to ₹400, with the top end for premium niches. It comes from a micro-creator guide and, in our reading, was meant for short-form views. It does not transfer to tech reviews. A channel averaging 250,000 views would price at ₹25,000 to ₹1 lakh on the rule, against asking prices of several lakh. Our reading is that tech buyers pay for purchase intent and a review that keeps being found, which a view count does not capture.
Compare cost per 1,000 views across your own shortlist instead, using views at 90 days on past reviews, not day three.
| Hypothetical channel | Fee | 90-day average views (assumed) | Cost per 1,000 views |
|---|---|---|---|
| A: Hindi tech channel, dedicated review | ₹3,50,000 | 2,50,000 | ₹1,400 |
| B: English comparison channel, integration | ₹1,75,000 | 1,20,000 | ₹1,458 |
| C: regional micro channel, dedicated review | ₹50,400 | 60,000 | ₹840 |
Set each against what your own paid video buys per 1,000 views. One published test calls a creator competitive within 1.5x of your paid cost per engaged view and overpriced at 3x or more, so pick whichever view metric you can measure on both sides. Channel C is cheapest per view, and regional-language channels sell at a discount of 40% to 60% in one agency guide, but it only helps if its viewers can buy your product.
Read a tech quote with five questions
- Which format, how long, and where in the video does the segment sit?
- What were average views at 90 days on the last five reviews?
- Does the fee include test devices and production, or are they extra lines?
- Which embargo, exclusivity and revision terms are inside the price?
- Are usage rights and whitelisting one line or two, and are add-ons added or multiplied?
A quote that answers all five can be compared with another. One that answers none is an opening ask.
What an embargo adds to a quote
| Embargo term | Effect on the price |
|---|---|
| Units arrive 7 to 10 days before the lift | None if shipped on time. Late units can make paid posts rush work, +25% to 40% under 48 hours |
| Fixed publish time | No published premium. Write the time and a remedy into the contract |
| No rival launch for 30 days | +30% to 50% |
| You see a cut before it goes live | Two revision rounds are standard; further rounds ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 each |
| A positive verdict | Not for sale. A paid review still needs a label, and a reviewer cannot honestly endorse a device they have not used (see the compliance section) |
A tech brand buys an early, honest look at a fixed minute, and the exclusivity window is where most of the premium sits. Narrow it to your three closest rivals and 30 days. Our guide to exclusivity clauses shows the wording.
The review unit: keep or return
The unit is outside the fee, and the choice between keeping and returning it decides your tax work. TaxGuru's summary of the CBDT FAQs says a product returned after a shoot attracts no TDS, while a kept product is a benefit valued at fair market value, which is the selling price if the giver makes the item. Section 194R puts 10% TDS on benefits once the total to one person passes ₹20,000 in a financial year. A ₹39,990 laptop passes that alone. Assume 20 creators need a unit, a laptop at ₹39,990, a landed cost of ₹31,000 and ₹1,000 of courier per round trip, all assumptions of ours.
| Unit policy | Unit cost to you | Creators over the ₹20,000 line |
|---|---|---|
| All 20 keep the unit | ₹6,20,000 | 20 |
| 6 keep (the long-form reviewers), 14 return | ₹2,00,000 | 6 |
| All 20 return the unit | ₹20,000 plus your refurbishing | 0 |
Keeping all 20 costs about three times the mixed policy and creates twenty declarations. The Income-tax Act 2025 now holds these provisions from 1 April 2026, so confirm the section with your CA. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.
Example: a laptop plan priced line by line
| Line | Basis | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated reviews | 2 at ₹2,50,000, +40% | ₹7,00,000 |
| Roundup and comparison integrations | 4 at ₹1,25,000, +40% | ₹7,00,000 |
| Regional-language reviews | 6 micro at ₹60,000, +40%, less 40% for language (₹50,400 each) | ₹3,02,400 |
| Shorts | 8 micro at ₹15,000, +40% | ₹1,68,000 |
| Tech-adjusted base | ₹18,70,400 | |
| 30-day exclusivity | +40% on the 2 dedicated reviews (₹7,00,000) | ₹2,80,000 |
| Ad rights, 60 days | +35% on the 2 dedicated reviews | ₹2,45,000 |
| Creator spend | ₹23,95,400 | |
| Management fee | 15%, the low end of the published range, for a larger plan | ₹3,59,310 |
| GST | 18% on creator spend and fee | ₹4,95,848 |
| All-in, before units and ad media | ₹32,50,558 |
All-in is 1.74 times the tech-adjusted base, and 2.2 times the ₹14.8 lakh the same lineup costs at generic band prices. Exclusivity and rights add 28% to the tech-adjusted base and are the first lines to trim if the total is too high. Add the unit line from the table above and ad media, which one agency guide puts at 2x to 4x the creator fee for a whitelisted post.
Budget for the rise
A booking platform reports 2026 fee rises of 40% to 70% for AI and tech creators, the largest on its list, as asking-price claims and not audited data. If a channel charged ₹2 lakh for an integration last year, that rise would put it at ₹2.8 lakh to ₹3.4 lakh now (our arithmetic). Two habits blunt it: book reviewers early, and ask for the current price to be held for three to six months across a launch and its follow-up review. See YouTube influencer rates in India for how views-based pricing helps you argue a number down.
The compliance cost in tech
ASCI's report for FY2025-26 puts electronics and consumer durables at 7.9% of influencer violations. The usual causes are spec claims and unlabelled gifted units. Free units, even unsolicited, are a material connection under the ASCI influencer guidelines, so every reviewer needs a clear label. Brief creators from a spec sheet your product team has signed, and keep claims like battery life tied to the test conditions. The Department of Consumer Affairs' endorsement guidance, released by PIB, says endorsers should not promote what they have not used, so reviewers must actually test the device. A comparison against a named rival needs its own check, covered in our post on trademark and comparative claims.
What a public launch shows
A July 2025 phone launch used 250 tech micro-influencers on Instagram and YouTube with a celebrity launch film, and the agency reported 15.15 million Instagram Reel views, according to MediaNews4u. No costs were published, so it shows the shape of a large launch, many small voices and one big one, and nothing about price. For the phase-by-phase launch budget, see influencer marketing cost for a product launch.

Frequently asked questions
How much do tech YouTubers charge in India?
Published asking prices put a dedicated review on a 500,000-subscriber tech or finance channel at about ₹5 lakh to ₹12 lakh, and a 60 to 180 second integration on a mid-sized tech channel at ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh. Micro channels sit lower, at ₹20,000 to ₹1.2 lakh for a dedicated video. See YouTube influencer rates in India.
Why do tech influencers cost more than other niches?
One brand-deals guide puts tech at 1.3x to 1.5x a beauty baseline, and another at two to three times lifestyle or comedy at the same audience size. A booking platform reports 2026 fee rises of 40% to 70% for AI and tech creators. None explains the cause. Our reading is purchase intent: viewers watch reviews to decide. See influencer fees by niche.
Should I buy a dedicated review or an integration?
A dedicated review gives depth and a searchable asset. An integration costs about 40% to 75% of a dedicated video at the same tier in our rate model and works inside a roundup or comparison that buyers already watch. Use one or two dedicated reviews for credibility and several integrations for reach. See YouTube influencer marketing.
Should reviewers keep the product?
It changes both cost and paperwork. A unit returned after review is not a benefit. A kept unit is valued at fair market value, and 10% TDS under section 194R applies once benefits to one person pass ₹20,000 in a financial year, which most laptops and many phones do alone. Ask your CA. See TDS 194R and GST on influencer payments.
How much extra does an embargoed launch video cost?
Published cards put turnaround under 48 hours at +25% to 40% and 30-day exclusivity against rival launches at +30% to 50%. A fixed publish time costs nothing by itself, but late units can turn every launch post into rush work. Ship units at least a week early. See influencer marketing cost for a product launch.
Do regional-language tech channels cost less?
One agency guide says regional-language YouTube channels cost 40% to 60% less than Hindi or English channels. In our example a micro dedicated review priced at ₹84,000 with the tech premium falls to ₹50,400 at a 40% discount. Check that the audience can buy your product. See regional language influencer rates.
What claims risks come with tech reviews?
ASCI found electronics and consumer durables were 7.9% of influencer violations in FY2025-26. Lines such as battery life or fastest in class need evidence, and a comparison against a named rival needs care. Brief from a spec sheet your team has signed off. See trademark and comparative claims in influencer posts.
