In short
- Choose a dedicated video for products that need demonstration or comparison, and an integration for simple messages, tests and spreading reach across channels.
- On our rate ranges a dedicated video costs roughly 1.3 to 2.5 times an integration at the same tier, so compare cost per exposure, not the headline fee.
- YouTube's paid promotion setting adds a label at the start of the video. ASCI also expects an on-screen label for the whole branded section in a video over two minutes.
- Put view-retention data, the brand partner access request and the cut-down rights into the contract, because integrations are only seen by people who reach the segment.
A dedicated YouTube video is made entirely about your product; an integration is a 60 to 180 second segment inside a video on something else. Buy a dedicated video when the product needs to be demonstrated or compared and the purchase is considered. Buy an integration when the message is simple, when you want to spread reach across several channels, or when you are testing a creator before a bigger spend. On our rate ranges the dedicated video costs about 1.3 to 2.5 times the integration, so the fee alone tells you little.
Our YouTube influencer marketing page lays out the three YouTube formats side by side. This post goes deeper on one choice inside it: how to decide between the two long-form formats, what the money buys, and what to put in the brief and contract. For the wider plan see our guide to influencer marketing in India, and for platform choice our comparison of YouTube and Instagram.
The decision, factor by factor
| Factor | Points to a dedicated video | Points to an integration |
|---|---|---|
| Product complexity | Needs a demo, set-up or comparison | One benefit, easy to say in 90 seconds |
| Price and risk | High ticket, or a product people research for weeks | Low to mid price, impulse or low-risk trial |
| Funnel stage | Consideration: "is this the right one?" | Awareness, or a nudge for people already warm |
| Claims | You want honest pros and cons to build trust | You want one verified claim repeated clearly |
| Budget | Enough for one or two strong creators | Spread across many channels to widen reach |
| Creator type | Review and explainer channels | Entertainment, vlog or education channels with loyal viewers |
| Reuse | You want a long asset and clips for ads | You want a short segment for ads or retargeting |
| Timing | You have two to three weeks for a review cycle | You need it live fast |
If four or more rows point one way, that is your answer. If the rows split evenly, buy one dedicated video and a handful of integrations; the mix is covered below.
What each costs
Indicative asking prices per creator, from the published Indian rate cards behind our ranges. These are not audited deal data. GST at 18 percent, usage rights, exclusivity and agency fees are extra.
| Tier | Dedicated video | Integration (60 to 90 s) | Dedicated as a multiple of integration (our arithmetic) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano (1K to 10K) | ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 | ₹3,000 to ₹12,000 | about 1.7x |
| Micro (10K to 100K) | ₹20,000 to ₹1.2 lakh | ₹15,000 to ₹60,000 | about 1.3x to 2x |
| Mid-tier (100K to 500K) | ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh | ₹60,000 to ₹2.5 lakh | about 1.7x to 2x |
| Macro (500K to 1M) | ₹3 lakh to ₹15 lakh | ₹2 lakh to ₹6 lakh | about 1.5x to 2.5x |
| Mega (1M+) | ₹8 lakh to ₹50 lakh | ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh | about 1.6x to 2x |
One published guide puts a dedicated review on a 500,000-subscriber tech or finance channel at ₹5 lakh to ₹12 lakh, and a 60 to 180 second integration on a mid-sized tech or finance channel at ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh. Niche moves the price: published guides price finance creators at about 1.5 to 2 times a beauty baseline and tech at 1.3 to 1.5 times. Use the influencer rates guide for the caveats and the cost calculator for your own mix.
Compare cost per exposure, not cost per post
An integration is seen only by viewers who are still watching when the segment arrives. A dedicated video is seen by everyone who clicks, but the viewer may leave early. So the useful number is not views, it is people who saw the product.
Define two measures yourself:
- Segment viewers for an integration: the video's views multiplied by the share of viewers still watching at the segment's timestamp. The creator's retention data gives the share.
- Product viewers for a dedicated video: views multiplied by the average share of the video watched, since the whole video is about you.
Google says 40 percent of a YouTube video's views happen more than a month after it goes live, according to data cited in YouTube's blog on creator partnerships. That is across all videos, not sponsored ones, so treat it as a reason to check each creator's own curve at day 7, day 30 and day 90. Dedicated reviews that rank for a search are the likeliest to keep earning.
Placement and length for an integration
- Sit it early. Ask for retention data from YouTube Studio on the creator's last ten videos and place the segment before the steepest drop. We brief for the first third of the video; that is our practice, not a YouTube rule.
- Keep it 60 to 90 seconds for one claim and one call to action. Longer integrations lose viewers; shorter ones lose the claim.
- Agree the chapter question. YouTube Help says chapters need at least three timestamps, the first at 00:00, and each chapter at least 10 seconds long. A chapter titled with your brand name helps viewers who want it and lets everyone else skip. Decide with the creator whether your segment gets one.
- Ask for a call to action in three places: spoken in the segment, in the first lines of the description, and in a pinned comment. Our guide to tracking sales with discount codes shows how to code each.
Briefing a dedicated video
A dedicated video needs more from you and gives the creator more freedom.
- The decision the viewer must be helped to make, not the features you want listed.
- Three claims the product can prove, and any claims to avoid.
- Review units sent early, with a clear rule on whether they are returned or kept; see TDS 194R and GST on influencer payments for the tax effect.
- Honest drawbacks allowed. Viewers who see a review with no downside discount it.
- A draft review step. YouTube's own Creator Partnerships flow has creators upload the video as Unlisted and submit it to the brand for review; you can use the same method outside the tool. Allow two revision rounds.

Disclosure by format
YouTube says that if you feature branded content, sponsorships or other commercial relationships, you must select the paid promotion setting in the video details, which adds a disclosure label at the beginning of the video. YouTube also says the creator and partners are responsible for complying with applicable legal requirements.
In India, ASCI expects a clear label on screen as well. For a video of two minutes or more, it must stay up for the whole section that mentions the brand. So:
| Format | Typical length | ASCI on-screen label | YouTube setting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Integration | 60 to 180 seconds inside a longer video | The whole branded segment | Paid promotion on |
| Dedicated video | 5 to 15 minutes | The whole video, since all of it mentions the brand | Paid promotion on |
See the ASCI influencer guidelines explainer. This is general information, not legal advice.
Ad rights, brand partner access and what is changing
YouTube says brands can request brand partner access to long-form videos and Shorts posted as part of a brand deal. That lets the brand, and agencies acting for it, view the video's organic and paid performance and boost it using creator partnerships boost, which YouTube's blog says was formerly called partnership ads. Creators are advised to discuss usage rights and get agreements independently. The access request shares viewer demographics, watch time, retention, engagement and performance data with the brand. Add to your contract that the creator will accept the request within a stated number of days. Our post on how YouTube's brand partnership tools work in India covers what is and is not confirmed about those tools.
YouTube also describes dynamic brand segments, which let a creator add, replace or remove a branded segment in a published video without touching the long video's metrics. The segment must be 30 seconds to 3 minutes and creator-led, and the long video at least 8 minutes. It is an invite-only 2026 pilot, and we found no list of countries for it, so do not plan around it yet.
A mixed plan
| Budget | Plan (creator fees only, from the ranges above) | Why |
|---|---|---|
| ₹5 lakh | 1 mid-tier dedicated video at about ₹2.6 lakh; 4 integrations at about ₹60,000 each, ₹2.4 lakh | Depth from one channel, reach from four |
| ₹10 lakh | 2 mid-tier dedicated videos at about ₹2.6 lakh each, ₹5.2 lakh; 8 integrations at about ₹60,000 each, ₹4.8 lakh | Two reviewers to compare, plus wider reach |
A related layer is vertical cut-downs for reach, which we cover in YouTube Shorts influencer marketing.
Mistakes that waste the fee
- A dedicated review for a product people do not research. A ₹199 item rarely needs eight minutes.
- An integration at minute 9. Most viewers have left.
- No retention data in the contract. You cannot compare cost per exposure without it.
- No ad rights. The best video becomes a negotiation after it works.
- Judging at day 7. Reviews that are found through search can take weeks to show their value.
If you want a creator plan that sets the mix channel by channel, send us a brief and you will have it within 48 hours.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a YouTube integration and a dedicated video?
A dedicated video is built around your product from start to finish, so the creator can demonstrate, compare and give a verdict. An integration is a segment, usually 60 to 180 seconds, inside a video on another topic. The first buys depth and a searchable asset; the second buys a clear message to the channel's audience at a lower fee. See our YouTube influencer marketing page.
Which costs more, a YouTube integration or a dedicated video?
A dedicated video. On our ranges, a micro channel's dedicated video asks about ₹20,000 to ₹1.2 lakh and an integration ₹15,000 to ₹60,000; mid-tier channels ask ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh and ₹60,000 to ₹2.5 lakh. These are asking prices from published rate cards. See the influencer rates guide.
How should I disclose a YouTube integration in India?
The creator selects the paid promotion setting, which Google says adds a disclosure label at the start of the video. ASCI also expects a clear label on screen, and for a video of two minutes or more it should stay for the whole section that mentions the brand. See the ASCI influencer guidelines. This is general information, not legal advice.
Where in the video should an integration sit?
Early enough that most viewers reach it. Ask the creator for audience retention data from YouTube Studio on recent videos and place the segment before the steepest drop. We brief for a placement inside the first third of the video, which is our practice, not a YouTube rule. Check retention at the segment after the video has been up for a week.
Can I reuse a YouTube integration as an ad?
Possibly, if you agree it. YouTube says a brand can request brand partner access to a video, which lets the brand and agencies working for it view organic and paid metrics and boost the video using creator partnerships boost, formerly called partnership ads. Put rights, window and platforms in the contract. See how brand partnership tools on YouTube work in India.
Should I mix both formats in one campaign?
Usually yes for a launch: one or two dedicated videos for depth and several integrations for reach, with Shorts cut from the long videos. Our post on YouTube Shorts influencer marketing covers the cut-down layer. Start with a mix and keep the budget split flexible until day-30 results arrive.
