In short

  • Akshaya Tritiya is Sunday 9 May 2027, also Mother's Day. The tithi runs 11:42 am Saturday 8 May to 9:03 am Sunday 9 May in New Delhi.
  • Footfall, not reach, is the goal for a jeweller. Cast local creators in showroom cities, measure with appointment codes and QR visits, and aim ads at each store's radius.
  • Purity wording, gold-as-investment claims, savings schemes and digital gold are the four risk areas. Brief each in writing; SEBI warned about digital gold on 8 November 2025.
  • A regional jeweller's plan with local creators costs about ₹13.1 to 14.1 lakh before GST in our example. Brief by Monday 8 March 2027.

Akshaya Tritiya influencer campaigns work when they help a buyer through a decision that is part tradition and part money: the first coin, the heirloom redesign, the gift for a mother, the first bike. The day is widely considered auspicious for buying gold and starting something new, so showrooms fill and attention is short. This post is the Akshaya Tritiya slice of our guide to influencer marketing in India, with eleven ideas, 2026 and 2027 dates, a plan, budgets and the claim rules for gold.

It builds on our jewellery playbook, which covers casting, hallmarking and loaned pieces, and on the festival marketing calendar for influencers. Read those first if you sell jewellery; this post covers only what is specific to the day.

Akshaya Tritiya dates and timings for 2026 and 2027

20262027
DateSunday 19 AprilSunday 9 May
Tritiya tithi, New Delhi10:49 am on 19 April to 7:27 am on 20 April11:42 am on 8 May to 9:03 am on 9 May
Puja muhuratNot checked5:35 am to 9:03 am

Both years come from Drik Panchang's 2027 page and its 2026 page, for New Delhi. Timings vary by city, and customs differ on whether the whole calendar day counts, so ask each showroom manager what their customers do before you set posting times.

The 2027 date has three planning consequences. The tithi ends at 9:03 am on Sunday, so the busiest buying windows are likely to be Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday's first hours. The day is also Mother's Day on Sunday 9 May, which is covered in our Mother's Day and Father's Day playbook. And the second wedding window reopens on 15 April; see wedding season influencer marketing.

What audiences do online

In our experience the shape is a three-week build. Early on, people compare designs and prices, and the searches are practical: coins, weights, making charges, hallmark, buyback. In the last week, showrooms announce special offers and the first-time buyer looks for reassurance. On the day, people post Stories from the shop, the box and the receipt, usually with family.

The audience is local. A jeweller with five showrooms in one state cannot use a national audience, so the creator's city and language matter more than follower count. Our regional influencer marketing work casts by showroom radius.

Eleven Akshaya Tritiya campaign ideas

Gold and jewellery

  1. First gold. Young earners show the first coin or piece they bought and why. Suits jewellers; see fashion and apparel.
  2. The buying guide. Explainer creators cover hallmark, making charges, buyback and how to compare quotes, as a YouTube video and a carousel. This is trust content, and the most searched.
  3. A gift for mother. Family creators help children pick a gift for their mother on Mother's Day. No pressure to prove love by spending.
  4. The heirloom remake. A showroom designer redesigns an old piece with the family's consent. Slow, emotional and rare.
  5. Everyday gold. Styling creators try lightweight pieces for work and weekend at set budgets, with no "today's rate" claims.
  6. The morning at the shop. Local creators film the early showroom with the manager's consent: the opening, the puja and the first customers.

New beginnings beyond gold

  1. First vehicle. Creators take delivery of a first bike or car and tell the story. Suits automotive and EV.
  2. Opening day. Local shop owners who open on the day tell why. See hire influencers for store opening.
  3. Possession day. A family receives keys to a home. Real estate has its own advertising rules; see real estate advertising rules for influencers.
  4. Gold, plainly. SEBI-registered educators explain what jewellery, coins and regulated gold funds are, without return claims. See finfluencer rules.
  5. The trousseau list. Bridal creators plan a first list for a second-window wedding in set budgets.

Ideas 2 and 6 are the two brands underbuy. The guide answers what buyers actually search, and the shop morning gives them the experience before they arrive.

Claim rules for gold

Four briefs matter for any gold-adjacent campaign.

Purity. Say it as hallmarked: a 22K piece is not "pure gold". The Bureau of Indian Standards' hallmarking brief, updated on 1 October 2026, covers the districts and exemptions, and the jewellery playbook turns it into briefing lines.

Investment. Do not promise returns, and do not call jewellery an investment without the making-charge caveat. A creator who discusses stocks or funds must hold SEBI registration, and ASCI's Addendum II requires the registration number to be shown.

Digital gold. SEBI said on 8 November 2025 that digital gold and e-gold products are neither notified as securities nor regulated as commodity derivatives and carry counterparty and operational risks, Business Today reported. A fintech campaign must not call digital gold regulated or safe, and should take legal advice. See fintech and BFSI.

Savings schemes. Monthly gold-saving schemes involve collecting money from customers, so ask counsel before a creator describes one.

A plan for Akshaya Tritiya 2027

Date (2027)Weeks to 9 MayAction
Mon 8 Mar9Budget and brief agreed; claims sheet with hallmark wording built
Mon 15 Mar8Local creators booked; Eid on about 11 March and Holi on 22 March are around
Mon 29 Mar6Contracts signed; loaned pieces insured and logged
Mon 12 Apr4Showroom shoots; the second wedding window opens 15 April
Mon 26 Apr2Drafts approved; wave 1 live: buying guides and first-gold stories
Mon 3 May1Wave 2: store-visit vlogs and Mother's Day gifts; creator ads in each showroom's radius
Sat 8 May0Tithi begins 11:42 am: Stories from showrooms in the afternoon and evening
Sun 9 May0Tithi ends 9:03 am in New Delhi: early-morning Stories; Mother's Day
Mon 10 MayafterRecap; appointments and footfall report

Book showroom shoots earlier than you think. Showrooms close or limit access on busy weekends, and a creator in a bridal wing needs permission and a quiet hour.

What to measure

For a jeweller, reach is a weak signal. Count appointment bookings and QR scans by creator, showroom visits that mention a creator, and saves on the buying guide. Add branded search for your showroom names in the week before. Compare footfall on 8 and 9 May with the same weekend the month before, and with Akshaya Tritiya 2026 on 19 April, if you have the data. Use a short staff question at the counter, "How did you hear of us?", to catch what codes miss; see influencer attribution for offline sales.

Budget notes

Use the ranges in our influencer rates guide: a nano Reel about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000, a micro Reel ₹8,000 to ₹80,000, a micro Story set ₹5,000 to ₹20,000, a mid-tier Reel ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh and a micro YouTube dedicated video ₹20,000 to ₹1.2 lakh. A buying-guide video earns its higher fee, because it is the asset that keeps working after the day.

Add about 35 percent for usage rights in our plans, and expect creator-ad rights to add 60 to 120 percent over organic in one published guide; our whitelisting service runs the ads in a radius around each showroom. Management fees run about 15 to 25 percent of creator spend in published benchmarks. Jewellery lent for a shoot is insured at the brand's cost. Test the mix in our cost calculator.

Sensitivities and things to avoid

  • No promises of prosperity. Do not say buying on the day guarantees luck or growth.
  • No guaranteed price rises. Gold prices move both ways, so do not say that the price will go up.
  • No cash and no locker shots. Do not film large cash payments, vaults or the layout of security.
  • Do not pressure families. Do not frame a gold gift as the proof of a child's love for a mother.
  • Respect the Jain observance. Jain families mark the day with the end of the year-long Varshi Tap fast, so keep sales content away from it.
  • Do not cite one muhurat for India. Tithi times vary by city, so use each showroom's own timing.
  • Do not present digital gold as safe. SEBI has said otherwise.

Disclosure, labels and tax

Under the ASCI influencer guidelines, money, free products, gifts and barter are a material connection, and the label must be upfront and prominent. A Story needs it on the visual, a Reel of 15 seconds or less needs it on screen for at least 3 seconds, and a piece of jewellery gifted to a creator needs "Free gift" or "Collaboration". The brand shares responsibility for claims, including purity and offer wording.

A piece lent for a shoot and returned stays outside section 194R; a piece the creator keeps counts towards the ₹20,000 yearly threshold for 10 percent TDS. See TDS 194R and GST on influencer payments. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.

Frequently asked questions

When is Akshaya Tritiya in 2027?

For New Delhi, Drik Panchang lists Akshaya Tritiya on Sunday 9 May 2027. The Tritiya tithi begins at 11:42 am on Saturday 8 May and ends at 9:03 am on Sunday 9 May, with the puja muhurat from 5:35 am to 9:03 am. In 2026 it was Sunday 19 April. Customs and timings vary by city, so confirm with each showroom.

Which creators work best for Akshaya Tritiya campaigns?

Local bridal, styling and regional-language creators in the cities where you have showrooms, buying-guide explainers who cover hallmarks and making charges, and gifting and family creators for the Mother's Day overlap. Most are micro level. Our micro-influencer service casts them, and the jewellery playbook covers casting in depth.

Can creators say gold is a good investment on Akshaya Tritiya?

They should not promise returns. Jewellery carries making charges and is not a regulated investment product, and SEBI cautioned on 8 November 2025 that digital gold sits outside its regulation and lacks investor protection. Stock or fund advice needs SEBI-registered voices. See our finfluencer rules post.

How early should we plan an Akshaya Tritiya influencer campaign?

Nine weeks. For 9 May 2027, brief on Monday 8 March, book creators by 15 March, sign contracts by 29 March, shoot in showrooms from 12 April and go live from 26 April. Women's Day, Holi, Eid and the cricket season crowd March, and the second wedding window opens on 15 April.

How much does an Akshaya Tritiya influencer campaign cost?

Published rates are about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 for a nano Reel, ₹8,000 to ₹80,000 for a micro Reel, ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh for a mid-tier Reel and ₹20,000 to ₹1.2 lakh for a micro YouTube video. Add rights, ads and a management fee of 15 to 25 percent. See the influencer rates guide.

How do we handle the Mother's Day clash in 2027?

Treat it as one gifting story, not two. Let gold-buying creators lead with the first gold purchase and the buying guide, and let family creators lead with a gift for a mother, with different creators and different hooks. Do not pressure anyone to prove love by buying gold. See our Mother's Day and Father's Day playbook.
