In short
- Mother's Day is Sunday 9 May 2027 and Father's Day Sunday 20 June 2027. Mother's Day shares its date with Akshaya Tritiya, so jewellery brands will crowd the same creators.
- Book creators once, in mid-March, for both days and brief both on 28 March. It saves briefing effort and may earn a bundle discount.
- Write for every family: single parents, step-parents, grandparents, guardians, parents who have died and estranged families. Avoid the kitchen-for-mom and guilt tropes.
- Health check-up and ageing content can stay public-service if no advice is given. Any advice needs qualifications under ASCI's 2025 rules.
Mother's Day and Father's Day influencer campaigns work best as one programme with two peaks: a gifting and tribute run into Sunday 9 May 2027, and a second run into Sunday 20 June. The creators, the gifting logic and the sensitivities are the same, so booking once saves effort and may earn a discount. This post is the parents' slice of our guide to influencer marketing in India, written for brands selling gifts, appliances, jewellery, grooming, health and travel.
Neither day is a traditional Indian festival, so there is no lunar date and no ritual to lean on. What carries the campaign is emotion, and emotion is easy to get wrong. The festival calendar for influencers shows where both days sit.
Dates for 2026 and 2027
| 2026 | 2027 | |
|---|---|---|
| Mother's Day (second Sunday of May) | Sunday 10 May | Sunday 9 May |
| Father's Day (third Sunday of June) | Sunday 21 June | Sunday 20 June |
Both follow the Western pattern and are unofficial in India, as Public Holidays India says of Mother's Day and Father's Day. Four things share the 2027 weeks:
- Akshaya Tritiya falls on Sunday 9 May 2027, per Drik Panchang. Gold and jewellery brands will compete for the same creators and the same gifting audience; see jewellery brands.
- Cricket. The IPL is tentatively expected from about 10 March to 15 May, per Wisden, so Mother's Day posts share attention with match nights; see cricket season.
- Exams. NEET UG usually falls in early May and its 2027 date is not yet announced, so aspirants' families will be stressed; see exam-season campaigns.
- The monsoon. Father's Day sits in the first weeks of the rains; see monsoon influencer marketing.
What audiences do online
In our experience, tribute posts, gift lists and "what I got for my mom" posts build through the preceding week, and the day itself is for personal photos and family calls. A specific memory travels further than a generic thank-you, and a creator filming their own parent usually earns more trust than a scripted scene.
The shopping is also geographic. Many buyers live in a different city from their parents, so delivery date and a wrapped gift with a note matter. Parents themselves are on Instagram and WhatsApp more than before, which is why grandparent creators have a real audience.
Ten ideas that include every family
Mother's Day
- Recreate mom's recipe. Food creators cook a dish with their mother on camera and say what she taught them. Suits food, kitchenware and appliance brands.
- Something for her, not the house. Gifting creators list presents that are not for housework: skincare, a spa visit, jewellery, a book, a day out.
- A real day with a mom creator. Parenting creators film an unpolished day with the product in it; see parenting and baby.
- Nani and dadi in front of the camera. Grandmother creators teach a recipe or a craft in their own language, as nano partners.
Father's Day
- Teach dad the new thing. Tech creators teach a father to use UPI, a smartwatch or a phone camera; see tech and gadgets.
- Dad's first skincare routine. Grooming brands pair beauty creators with fathers for an honest, funny Reel.
- The annual check-up. Health and wellness creators encourage a parent's check-up. See the health rules below.
- A day out with dad. Road trips, rides and cafés; see travel and hospitality.
For both
- Who raised me. An open format where each creator names the person who raised them: a mother, father, grandparent, single parent, step-parent, guardian or mentor.
- Letter and voice-note Stories. Micro creators share a template that says "write to your mom" with a link sticker to personalised gifts; see link sticker campaigns.
Putting a creator's parent on camera
The best posts feature the creator's own mother or father, and that is where the risks sit. A parent is a person, not a prop, and their consent matters as much as the creator's.
- Ask the parent, not only the creator. Confirm that they are comfortable being filmed, named and shown to an audience of strangers, and that they know the post is a paid collaboration.
- Leave out private detail. No health conditions, finances, addresses or family disputes, unless the creator chooses to share and the parent agrees.
- Pay for the time. A nano grandparent creator who runs their own account should be paid like any creator. A parent who only appears can receive a gift, which still needs a label on the post.
- Agree what happens to the footage. If you plan to use the clip in ads, the usage rights cover the creator's face and the parent's. Our guide to usage rights shows how to word it.
- Have a fallback. If a parent falls ill or withdraws, the creator should be able to swap the idea without a penalty.
Gifts that arrive in another city
Most parents' day orders are placed for a parent in a different city. That puts delivery at the centre of the plan. Give creators the real courier cut-off for each metro and for outstation pin codes, and ask them to say it in the post: "order by Wednesday for Sunday". Offer a handwritten-note option, since a gift that comes with a message is what the tribute is about. For appliances and larger items, include installation: a mixer that arrives on Sunday but cannot be fitted until Tuesday is a disappointment. Ask the courier partner what it can promise before you brief any creator on timing.
What to measure
Count orders by creator code and by day, with a separate line for orders placed before the courier cut-off. Saves and shares tell you which tribute format landed; a high share count on "who raised me" posts means the idea travelled beyond your usual audience. For jewellery and appliance brands, watch average order value, because gifts are bought at a higher price than self-purchases. After Mother's Day, check which cohort of creators converted best before you brief Father's Day, and move budget towards them.
Book once, post twice
The two days are six weeks apart, which is long enough for a fresh audience and short enough to share a contract. The structure we recommend:
| Step | Mother's Day, 9 May 2027 | Father's Day, 20 Jun 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Creators booked (8 weeks) | 14 Mar | Same day, same contract |
| Briefs for both issued | 28 Mar | Same day |
| Products shipped (3 weeks) | 18 Apr | 30 May |
| Drafts approved | 25 Apr | 6 Jun |
| Live window | 2 to 9 May | 13 to 20 Jun |
| Report | 16 May | 27 Jun |
Booking in mid-March also keeps you clear of Eid al-Fitr, expected about 9 to 11 March, and Holi on 22 March. One published rate guide says that bundling deliverables usually earns a 20 to 35 percent discount over buying them separately, so ask for a price on both moments, but check what the creator actually quotes.
Budget notes
Use the ranges on our influencer rates guide: a nano Reel about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000, a nano Story set ₹1,000 to ₹5,000, a micro Reel ₹8,000 to ₹80,000, a micro Story set ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 and a mid-tier Reel ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh.
The structure to negotiate is the two-moment contract. Because the days are six weeks apart, ask whether the creator will price both together, and be clear about reuse: if you want a Mother's Day Reel to run as an ad in June, one published guide quotes 20 to 50 percent a month for usage beyond the campaign period. Usage rights add about 35 percent in our plans, creator ad rights add 60 to 120 percent over an organic post in one published guide, and management fees run about 15 to 25 percent of creator spend in published benchmarks. GST at 18 percent is usually extra. Use our influencer cost calculator.
Sensitivities and things to avoid
- People who have lost a parent. Do not script grief for sales. Say once, plainly, that the day is hard for some, and let creators choose whether to take part.
- Families that do not fit the picture. Single parents, step-parents, adoptive parents, two-mother and two-father families, grandparents raising children, guardians and estranged families are all in your audience.
- Stereotypes. No "gift her a mixer", no "dad cannot cook", no father as a wallet. Ask whether the gift is for her or for her work.
- Guilt and sacrifice. Do not use "she gave up everything" to sell a product.
- Children in frame. Get parental consent. The DPDP Act bars tracking and targeted advertising aimed at under-18s, as PIB reported; see our data-protection guide.
- Health and ageing. Do not ask a creator to share a parent's diagnosis. Content that only encourages a check-up is public-service; anything about results, medicines or conditions needs a qualified creator, per ASCI's April 2025 update.
- Alcohol as a father's gift. Avoid it; alcohol brands face separate advertising limits.
- Gold. Do not frame Akshaya Tritiya gold as a guaranteed investment.
Disclosure, labels and tax
A creator who films a gift the brand supplied to their own mother still needs a label. Under the ASCI influencer guidelines, a hamper, a fee or a code is a material connection, and the label should read Free gift, Collaboration or Ad, upfront: on the visual for a Story, on screen for at least 3 seconds in a short video. The brand shares responsibility for claims such as "BIS hallmarked" or "clinically tested", and must be able to back them.
For tax, gifts a creator keeps are a benefit: above ₹20,000 per creator in a financial year, 10 percent TDS under section 194R can apply, with exemptions for some small individual creators; see TDS 194R and GST on influencer payments and the ASCI guidelines explained. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.
Next steps
Pair this with the festival calendar and our gifting and seeding service. Valentine's Day comes first, in February, and uses the same gifting muscles, so the creators who convert there are your shortlist here; see Valentine's Day campaign ideas. Frequently asked questions
When are Mother's Day and Father's Day in 2026 and 2027?
India follows the common pattern: Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May and Father's Day on the third Sunday of June. That was Sunday 10 May and Sunday 21 June in 2026, and is Sunday 9 May and Sunday 20 June in 2027. Neither is an official public holiday. In 2027, Mother's Day falls on the same day as Akshaya Tritiya.
How early should brands book influencers for Mother's Day and Father's Day?
Book about eight weeks ahead, which is mid-March for Mother's Day 2027, and brief about six weeks ahead. Because the two days are six weeks apart, brief both at once and ask for a two-moment price. Nano and micro campaigns can go live in two to three weeks, and rush turnarounds under 48 hours add 25 to 40 percent.
How much does a Mother's Day or Father's Day influencer campaign cost?
Creator fees follow published ranges: about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 for a nano Reel, ₹8,000 to ₹80,000 for a micro Reel and ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh for a mid-tier Reel. Add usage rights, creator ads and a management fee of about 15 to 25 percent. See influencer rates in India.
Which creators work best for Mother's Day and Father's Day?
Parenting, food, family and lifestyle micro creators, with grandparent creators as nano partners and grooming, tech and travel creators for Father's Day. Cast creators whose own parents are comfortable on camera. Our parenting and baby industry page covers mom and dad creators, and our micro-influencer service handles the casting.
How should brands handle families that do not fit the usual picture?
Write for the person who raised you, not only for mothers and fathers: single parents, step-parents, adoptive parents, grandparents, guardians, two-mother and two-father families, and people who have lost a parent. Let creators choose their own person. Do not script grief for sales, and avoid lines that assume everyone has a happy home.
Do health check-up gifts for parents need qualified creators?
It depends on what is said. ASCI's April 2025 update says qualifications are needed only where technical information or advice is given, and cites an insurer using an influencer to talk about annual health check-ups as an example that does not need them. Advice about results or conditions does. See our health influencer rules.
