In short
- Karwa Chauth was Thursday 29 October 2026 and is Monday 18 October 2027, eleven days before Diwali. In 2027 it falls during the cricket World Cup.
- The money is in the three weeks before the fast, not the day: sargi, mehendi, outfits, salon bookings, jewellery and gifts. Keep the day itself for Stories.
- Never present the fast as proof of love or imply that skipping it is a lack. Brief tone, not just claims, and check ASCI's stereotype rules.
- A micro-led gifting and beauty plan for the Delhi NCR, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh belt costs about ₹14.8 to 15.9 lakh before GST in our example.
Karwa Chauth influencer campaigns work when they sell the preparation, not the fast. The festival lasts one day, but the buying runs for three weeks: mehendi, outfits, salon bookings, jewellery, sweets and the gift a husband is expected to bring. This post is the Karwa Chauth slice of our guide to influencer marketing in India, with eleven ideas, the 2026 and 2027 dates, a plan, budgets and the tone rules that stop a warm moment turning into a stereotype.
It is one date in the autumn run of the festival marketing calendar for influencers, between Navratri and Diwali, and it should be planned with both of them.
Karwa Chauth dates for 2026 and 2027
Karwa Chauth falls on Kartika Krishna Chaturthi, and Drik Panchang's New Delhi listings give these dates:
| 2026 | 2027 | |
|---|---|---|
| Karwa Chauth | Thursday 29 October | Monday 18 October |
| Diwali | Sunday 8 November | Friday 29 October |
| Gap to Diwali | 10 days | 11 days |
The 2026 date has passed (29 October), so there is nothing to book for it now. The useful move is to review what sold, because Diwali is next on Sunday 8 November; see our Diwali playbook.
The fast ends at moonrise, and moonrise differs by city, so a brief must name each creator's local time rather than one time for India. In 2027 the day is a Monday, which means many observing women will fast through a working day. It also sits after Navratri (30 September to 9 October), and the men's cricket World Cup runs from 2 October to 21 November, according to the ICC.
What audiences do online
Karwa Chauth is observed mostly across northern, central and western India, and by families who have moved to other cities. In our experience the content has four beats. Early in the month: sargi baskets, outfit hunts and mehendi bookings. In the last week: salon appointments, jewellery and gift guides. On the day: Stories of mehendi, the evening puja and the moon. Afterwards: photos, and a wave of couple posts.
Customs differ. The pre-dawn sargi, sent by the mother-in-law, is central in Punjab and Haryana, and other regions keep other rituals. Brief the creator's own practice rather than a generic version.
Eleven Karwa Chauth campaign ideas
Preparation
- The sargi thali. A mother and daughter-in-law, or two women of one family, prepare the pre-dawn meal. Suits sweets, dry fruit, ghee and kitchen brands; see FMCG, food and beverage.
- Mehendi, start to stain. Mehendi artists film a design in time-lapse, with the stain on day two. "Natural" and "chemical-free" claims need proof.
- The look under a budget. Beauty creators build a face, hair and nail look for ₹1,000, ₹3,000 or ₹5,000. Suits salons, beauty and skincare; see beauty and skincare.
- Buy, rent or restyle. Fashion creators compare buying a new outfit, renting one and restyling a wedding lehenga; see fashion and apparel.
- The gift guide for him. Gifting creators suggest gifts at set prices, from jewellery to appliances. Jewellery needs accurate purity wording; see jewellery brands.
The day and the evening
- The workday of a fast. Office-going creators film the logistics: the outfit bag, the schedule, the evening dash home. No diet or health advice.
- First Karwa Chauth. Newly married creators show their first festival, with consent from the family. Suits jewellery, outfits and gifting.
- The moon shot. Creators photograph the moonrise on phones or cameras. Suits smartphone brands; see tech and gadgets.
Couples and distance
- He fasts too. Couple creators who choose to keep it together show the day. It is a choice, not a template.
- Gift swap. Partners pick gifts for each other under a set limit, using a Collab post that appears on both accounts; see Instagram Collab posts.
- Long-distance Karwa Chauth. Creators in two cities do the puja over a video call, with a couriered sargi. Suits courier, telecom and gifting brands.
Ideas 1 and 11 are the two brands underbuy. They carry the emotion of the festival without leaning on the fast as a test, and they make room for families who are apart.
Tone: where Karwa Chauth content goes wrong
A brand that gets the dates right can still fail on tone. Four lines belong in every brief.
- The fast is a choice. Do not present it as proof of love, a duty or a competition. Do not tell women who skip it that they are missing out.
- No mocking. Mothers-in-law, husbands and wives are easy comedy targets. ASCI's 2022 gender stereotype guidelines say a stereotypical role may be shown but must not be presented as the only option, and that humour or banter does not cure a stereotype. See our Women's Day post for the full list.
- No health advice. Karwa Chauth is often kept without food or water. Advice on fasting, diet or health needs a qualified voice with qualifications stated upfront, under ASCI's health rules, and generic content does not. See health influencer rules.
- Include without pressing. Single, widowed and divorced women, and couples of every kind, are in the audience. Show the festival without telling them what they should feel.

Casting and briefing
- Cast where the festival is kept. Karwa Chauth audiences concentrate in the north, so check a creator's audience city split before you book. A Mumbai creator with mostly Delhi followers can work; a Bengaluru creator with mostly local followers may not.
- Seed early. Hampers, mehendi cones and beauty kits need ten to fourteen days to arrive; see our gifting and seeding service and product seeding logistics.
- Send moonrise by city. Put each creator's local moonrise in the brief and the schedule, taken from a panchang for their city.
- Approve in two rounds. Tone and claims are the two things to check, and a three-day turnaround leaves room for a fix.
What to measure
Count orders and code redemptions by creator and city, saves on the look and gift-guide posts, salon bookings from the code, and branded search for your hamper or range in the last week. Compare orders from 1 to 17 October with a normal fortnight, and with the Diwali window that follows. Also log comments that object to tone, which are the earliest sign a brief needs a new line.
Budget notes
Use the ranges in our influencer rates guide: a nano Reel about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000, a micro Reel ₹8,000 to ₹80,000, a micro Story set ₹5,000 to ₹20,000, a nano Story set ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 and a mid-tier Reel ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh. Karwa Chauth is a Story-heavy day, so price Story sets as their own line.
For couple creators, ask whether the fee covers one account or two, since a Collab post appears on both. Add about 35 percent for usage rights in our plans, and expect creator-ad rights to add 60 to 120 percent over organic in one published guide. A rush under 48 hours adds 25 to 40 percent, and late-September slots are rushed by the Navratri and cricket calendars. Management fees run about 15 to 25 percent of creator spend in published benchmarks. Test mixes in our cost calculator.
Disclosure, labels and tax
Under the ASCI influencer guidelines, money, free products, gifts and barter are a material connection, and the label must be upfront and prominent. A Story needs it on the visual, a Reel of 15 seconds or less needs it on screen for at least 3 seconds, and a hamper sent for free needs "Free gift" or "Collaboration". The brand shares responsibility and must back its claims. In ASCI's 2025-26 report, personal care was the second-largest category of influencer violations at 16.9 percent, and fashion and lifestyle accounted for 4.3 percent, so beauty and outfit briefs need the closest check.
Kept gifts count towards the ₹20,000 yearly threshold for 10 percent TDS under section 194R; see TDS 194R and GST on influencer payments. A piece of jewellery lent for a shoot and returned stays outside it. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.

Frequently asked questions
When is Karwa Chauth in 2027?
For New Delhi, Drik Panchang lists Karwa Chauth on Monday 18 October 2027, on Kartika Krishna Chaturthi. In 2026 it was Thursday 29 October. The fast ends at moonrise, which differs by city, so never publish one time for all of India. Diwali follows on Friday 29 October 2027.
Which creators work best for Karwa Chauth campaigns?
Beauty, mehendi, fashion, food and couple creators who live the festival, mostly micro level, from Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Add a gifting creator and a few nano creators from smaller towns. Our micro-influencer service casts these groups.
How early should brands plan a Karwa Chauth influencer campaign?
Eight weeks. For 18 October 2027, brief on Monday 23 August, book creators by 6 September, approve drafts by 20 September and go live from 27 September. Navratri runs 30 September to 9 October and the cricket World Cup starts on 2 October, so late slots are expensive.
Can creators give advice on fasting?
They should not. Karwa Chauth is often kept without food or water, and advice on fasting, diet or health needs a qualified voice with qualifications stated upfront under ASCI's health rules. Keep creators to logistics and look. See health influencer rules.
How much does a Karwa Chauth influencer campaign cost?
Published rates put a nano Reel at about ₹2,000 to ₹10,000, a micro Reel at ₹8,000 to ₹80,000, a micro Story set at ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 and a mid-tier Reel at ₹50,000 to ₹3.5 lakh. Add usage rights, creator ads and a management fee of about 15 to 25 percent. See the influencer rates guide.
How do we keep Karwa Chauth content free of gender stereotypes?
ASCI's 2022 guidelines say stereotypical roles may be shown but must not be presented as the only option, and that humour does not cure a stereotype. Do not mock mothers-in-law or husbands, and do not imply that fasting measures love. Our Women's Day post summarises the rules.
