LinkedIn creator content formats for B2B: which post type earns its fee, and which you can sponsor

A LinkedIn creator can give a B2B brand a text post, a document carousel, a video, a newsletter issue or a live session. Each does a different job, and LinkedIn lets you sponsor only some of them. Here is how to choose, brief and measure each.

In short

  • Match format to job: text for argument, documents for saveable frameworks, video for demos, newsletters for depth, Live for launches. Polls cannot be sponsored.
  • LinkedIn's Help Center says sponsorable posts are public text, single image, video, document, article or newsletter, and event posts. Polls, multi-image posts, celebrations and reposts are not eligible.
  • Label every paid post twice: LinkedIn's Brand Partnership toggle (public posts only, reset for each post) and an ASCI-style label in the first lines.
  • Published asking prices run ₹40,000 to ₹2.4 lakh per post for 30,000 to 100,000 followers. Sponsoring the post is a separate media cost.

On LinkedIn, buy the format that matches the job. A text post carries an argument or a story. A document post (what marketers call a carousel) gives readers a framework they save. Video shows a product or a person. A newsletter reaches subscribers with depth, and a live session fills a launch. One more rule shapes the choice: LinkedIn lets you sponsor only some of these, and polls are not among them.

Our LinkedIn and B2B creator service and the wider guide to influencer marketing in India explain who we cast and why. This post stays on the formats themselves: what each does, how to brief it, what LinkedIn confirms about sponsoring it, and what to measure. We read LinkedIn's own Help Center pages on 1 November 2026, and we flag anything we could not confirm.

What you can sponsor, and what you cannot

If you want to put media behind a creator's post, LinkedIn calls it a Thought Leader Ad. LinkedIn Help sets the rules:

Post typeCan a brand sponsor it?Objectives LinkedIn lists
TextYesBrand awareness, engagement
Single imageYesBrand awareness, engagement
VideoYesBrand awareness, engagement, video views
Document (carousel)YesBrand awareness, engagement
Article or newsletterYesBrand awareness, engagement
LinkedIn Live Event postYes, as an event ad, using posts from attendees of your Page's eventEvent, brand awareness, engagement
PollNoNone
Multi-image postNoNone
Celebration postNoNone
RepostNo; ask the original author and promote the originalNone

The conditions: the post must be public, the author's profile must show their full name, and the author must approve the request in Campaign Manager. The author can approve one request or turn on auto-approval, and can revoke it later; when that happens the ad stops. Single image, video and document ads carry no call-to-action button, so a link goes in the intro text.

Format by format

Text posts

A text post lives or dies on its first two lines, which show before the "see more" fold. Ask the creator for a real story: a mistake, a number they track, a workflow they changed. Put your brand where it sits in that story. It works for opinion, objections and category education. It does not carry a framework well.

Ask for the creator's earlier posts on the same topic and read the comments. If the audience argues back, the creator has authority. If it is a run of one-line praise, be cautious.

Document posts (carousels)

LinkedIn Help says document posts accept PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOC and DOCX files up to 100MB and 300 pages, and that videos or animations inside a document show as static images. It also says you cannot edit the document after upload, though you can edit the caption. That last rule makes proofing part of the brief: the brand approves the final PDF, not a draft, because a wrong number cannot be fixed after it is live.

Documents suit checklists, comparisons and step-by-step frameworks, the things readers save and forward. In our plans we ask for 8 to 12 slides with one idea per slide, a title that states the promise and a closing slide with the single action. Make sure the design is included in the fee; some creators price design separately.

Video

Short talking-head video suits product walk-throughs and founder takes. Ask for captions, since many people watch without sound, and put the label on screen and in the caption. Video is also the only format with a video-views objective if you sponsor it. Agree the length up front, because ASCI sets how long a label must stay on screen depending on the video's duration (see the labels section below).

Newsletters

LinkedIn Help says all members can create a newsletter, though the page does not define the access criteria, and that after each edition push, in-app and email notifications go to all subscribers. That makes a newsletter the one format that reaches people who chose to subscribe. Buy either a sponsored mention inside an edition or a guest edition on your topic written by the creator. Ask for the analytics LinkedIn shows the author, not a subscriber count in a message.

Live sessions

LinkedIn's access criteria for LinkedIn Live say members and Pages with more than 150 followers or connections can be evaluated, the account must be at least 30 days old and in good standing, and there is no application: access appears when you create an event. A creator can therefore host a Live without a special programme, but a good one needs two weeks of promotion, a moderated Q&A and a recap post afterwards. Event ads use posts from attendees of the Live Events your Page created, so plan to host on your Page and invite the creator as a guest.

Polls

A poll is cheap research: ask the creator's audience a question that your team wants answered. Treat it as a way to learn, not as a conversion tool, since it cannot be sponsored and produces a quick vote more than a lead.

A six-week sequence

WeekFormatJob
1Text postState the problem in the buyer's words
2Document postGive a framework worth saving
3Short videoShow the product in use or the founder's take
4Newsletter editionGo deep for subscribers
5Live Q&AAnswer objections in public
6Sponsor the best postReach lookalike professionals with the winner

Sequencing beats a single burst: B2B buyers need repeated, spaced exposure, and the six weeks give you data on which format your buyers respond to before you spend on sponsoring.

Sponsoring the creator's post

The steps in Campaign Manager are: confirm your permissions (super admin, content admin or Sponsored Content poster on your Page, plus creative manager access on the ad account), create an ad set with a supported objective, browse for the member's post, request approval, and sponsor it once the author says yes. Ads can appear in the LinkedIn feed and on the LinkedIn Audience Network.

LinkedIn's Creator Marketplace in Campaign Manager is a place to find public posts to promote. LinkedIn's help page says it does not support content from creators in countries covered by the EU's Digital Markets Act, and it does not list India either way. A June 2026 report says LinkedIn's creator-listing sign-up launched first for creators in the US and Canada. We therefore could not confirm how much of the marketplace Indian creators can use. If it matters to your plan, ask the creator whether they can sign up, and otherwise source them through an agency.

Labels and rules

Two layers apply. First, LinkedIn's help page says anyone sharing content in exchange for value, including payment, endorsements or free products, must label it as a brand partnership. The label is available on public posts only, resets to off for each new post and makes the post publicly searchable. Second, when a brand sponsors a creator's post, LinkedIn says the author remains responsible for disclosing the relationship, and the ad shows "Promoted by" the company for an employee or "Promoted - Partnership with" the company for others.

ASCI's influencer guidelines still apply. ASCI found 121 LinkedIn violations in FY2024-25 and issued a targeted advisory. Put a clear label such as Ad, Sponsored, Collaboration or Partnership in the first lines, not behind "see more". For video, the label must be on screen for at least 3 seconds if the video is 15 seconds or less, for one third of the video if it runs over 15 seconds and under 2 minutes, and for the whole section that mentions the brand if it runs 2 minutes or more. Read the ASCI influencer guidelines explainer. For finance and health creators, ASCI's Addendum II also requires credentials to be stated upfront; see finfluencer rules. This is general information, not legal advice.

Briefing mistakes to avoid

  • Asking for a script. LinkedIn readers spot copy; approve points, claims and the label instead.
  • Putting the product in the first line. Open with the buyer's problem, then bring the product in.
  • Buying the wrong audience. A career coach's followers may be students, not procurement heads.
  • One post and done. A single post rarely moves a buyer; plan a series.
  • No lead hand-off. Prospects reply in comments. Agree who answers and within what time.
  • Skipping the label on the first draft. Fixing it after publishing is slower and looks worse.

What it costs

LinkedIn has 170 million Indian members in DataReportal's Digital 2026 report, but that is registered membership. Rate cards are asking prices from agency and booking-platform blogs:

Source familyPublished range
Two rate cards (probably not independent)₹40,000 to ₹2.4 lakh per post, creators with 30,000 to 100,000 followers
One booking platform₹10,000 to ₹35,000 micro; ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh macro
One rate card's comparisonLinkedIn creators charge two to three times Instagram rates for a similar following

Usage rights, exclusivity, GST and agency fees come on top, and sponsorship media is separate. Our influencer rates guide explains the caveats; the cost calculator helps with a plan. Published benchmarks suggest agency fees of 15 to 25 percent of creator spend.

Frequently asked questions

Which LinkedIn post format works best for B2B brands?

There is no single winner; it depends on the job. Documents suit frameworks and checklists that readers save. Short video suits product walk-throughs. Text posts carry an argument or a story. Newsletters reach a subscribed audience with depth. Start with a text post and a document, then add video. Our LinkedIn and B2B creator service sequences them by objective.

Can a brand sponsor a creator's LinkedIn post in India?

LinkedIn's Thought Leader Ads let advertisers promote a member's public post after the author approves it in Campaign Manager. The author can revoke approval and the ad then stops. Eligible formats are text, single image, video, document, article or newsletter. We could not confirm from LinkedIn's pages whether every Creator Marketplace feature is live for Indian creators.

Do LinkedIn creators have to label sponsored posts?

Yes. LinkedIn's Help Center says anyone sharing content in exchange for value, including payment or free products, must use the Brand Partnership label on a public post. ASCI also expects a clear label upfront, and found 121 LinkedIn violations in FY2024-25. See our ASCI influencer guidelines explainer. This is general information, not legal advice.

How much does a LinkedIn creator charge per post in India?

Published asking prices vary. Two rate cards quote ₹40,000 to about ₹2.4 lakh for creators with 30,000 to 100,000 followers; another puts micro creators at ₹10,000 to ₹35,000 and macro at ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh. One says LinkedIn creators charge two to three times Instagram rates. See influencer rates in India.

Are LinkedIn carousels the same as document posts?

Yes. Marketers call a swipeable set of slides a carousel; LinkedIn calls it a document post, uploaded as a PDF, PPT or Word file. Help says files can be up to 100MB and 300 pages, and that animations and video inside them show as static images. You cannot edit the document after posting, so proofread before upload.

How do I measure a LinkedIn creator campaign for B2B?

Use layers: impressions and saves for attention, comment quality and profile visits for interest, tracked clicks and demo requests for intent, and a CRM source field for pipeline. Read results at 7, 30 and 90 days, because B2B buyers act late. See influencer marketing for SaaS and B2B.
