In short
- Build each tutorial around one question buyers type into search or put to your support team, so the video keeps working long after the post date.
- Have someone who has never used the product follow the steps before filming. A tutorial that fails at step four costs more than none.
- ASCI expects qualifications to be shown where health or finance creators give technical advice, so brief experts, not just popular faces.
- Our example kitchen-appliance library, three YouTube integrations and 22 short videos, costs about ₹8.9 to ₹9.6 lakh including rights and fees.
An influencer tutorial campaign gets creators to teach people something with your product in the frame: a recipe, a setup, a routine, a fix. The video is built around a question buyers already have, which is why it keeps being found weeks after the post date. This post gives thirteen tutorial ideas, each with creator type, platform, what it achieves and a budget, plus the checks that keep a how-to correct. It goes one level deeper than our guide to influencer marketing in India and builds on YouTube influencer marketing and UGC creators.
Budgets use asking prices from our influencer rates guide. For micro creators I quote the lower half of the Reel band, ₹8,000 to ₹40,000. GST at 18 percent, usage rights (about 35 percent in our planning, and worth paying for on evergreen videos) and management fees (published benchmarks suggest 15 to 25 percent of creator spend) are extra.
Start from the question, not the format
Every tutorial should answer one question that someone has typed into a search box or put to your support team. Write the question first and choose the format second.
| The question buyers ask | Tutorial type | Best platform |
|---|---|---|
| "How do I use this?" | First-use walkthrough | YouTube, Reels |
| "What can I make or do with it?" | Recipes, hacks, routines | Reels, carousels |
| "Why isn't it working?" | Troubleshooting video | YouTube, Shorts |
| "Can I learn the skill first?" | Skill tutorial with the product as the tool | YouTube, live |
| "Is it for someone like me?" | Beginner series in the buyer's language | Reels in four or five languages |
Pull the questions from your own data: the top ten support queries, the search box on your site, product-page comments and unanswered DMs. They are the best brief you will write.

Make the tutorial correct
A tutorial that fails at step four does more harm than no tutorial. Build the checks into the schedule.
- Run it cold. Before filming, give the script of steps to someone who has never used the product and watch where they stall. Fix the product copy or the steps, not the viewer.
- Match the version. Name the model, size, app version and any accessory the tutorial depends on, so it still works on the shelf when it posts.
- Add the warnings. Heat, electricity, patch tests, allergens and age limits belong in the video, not only the caption.
- Check the claims. A tutorial often carries claims by implication ("clears", "heals", "burns fat"). Run the script through cosmetics claims or food claims review.
- Show the result honestly. One run, no edits that make it look faster or cleaner than it is.
| Category | What must be right | Who should check |
|---|---|---|
| Beauty and skincare | Ingredient and result claims; patch-test advice | Your regulatory lead; a qualified creator if advice is given |
| Food and drink | Nutrition and health statements; allergens | Food-safety lead; see FSSAI rules |
| Fitness and wellness | Form, load, contraindications | A qualified trainer or practitioner |
| Appliances and electronics | Safety steps, power ratings, warranty conditions | Product team |
| Finance | Any investment advice or return claim | Compliance; SEBI-registered creators only for stock or investment advice |
| Apps | Each screen and step on the current version | Product manager |
Credentials, labels and timing
ASCI's Addendum II (6 March 2025) requires influencers who give technical advice on health, nutrition or finance to hold relevant qualifications and state them upfront, and ASCI's 28 April 2025 update narrowed that to cases where technical information or advice is actually given. For health content, the Department of Consumer Affairs' August 2023 guidelines ask certified practitioners to say so, and others who present as health experts to carry a clear disclaimer that content is not a substitute for medical advice.
Under the ASCI influencer guidelines, a paid tutorial needs a clear label upfront (Ad, Sponsored, Collaboration or Partnership). Because tutorials run long, the label's duration matters: on a video of 15 seconds or less, at least 3 seconds; over 15 seconds but under two minutes, for one third of the video; at two minutes or more, for the whole section that mentions the brand. On a live tutorial, announce the connection at the start and at the end. If AI voice or footage materially shapes the demonstration, ASCI's synthetic-content guidelines (signed 17 September 2026) call for a label. This is general information, not legal advice.
What public record shows (not our work)
We found no published tutorial campaign with results in our sources. The documented 2025 Indian campaigns are launches, films and events, and none of them says whether the content was instructional. That is unsurprising: the payoff of a tutorial shows in search traffic, support volume and returns, which brands rarely publish. Treat the format as one to prove in your own data. A pilot of three or four videos with a clear measure, such as views after 90 days, is enough to tell you whether to go further.

Frequently asked questions
What is an influencer tutorial campaign?
It is a campaign in which creators teach a skill or task using your product: a recipe, a setup, a routine, a repair. The video is built to answer a question buyers have, so it can keep earning views and search traffic after posting. It suits products with a learning curve. See our YouTube influencer marketing service for long how-to formats.
How much does a tutorial campaign cost?
A micro Reel tutorial costs ₹8,000 to ₹40,000 in the lower half of the published band, a micro YouTube video ₹20,000 to ₹1.2 lakh, and a mid-tier YouTube integration ₹60,000 to ₹2.5 lakh. Add rights at about 35 percent and GST at 18 percent. One booking-platform guide says bundling usually earns a discount of 20 to 35 percent. See the influencer rates guide.
Which platform is best for tutorials?
YouTube for anything that people search for and need to watch step by step, Reels and Shorts for quick tasks and hooks, carousels for guides people save. Most brands combine a long video with short cut-downs. Our guide to YouTube integration versus dedicated video helps you decide the long format.
Do tutorials need qualified creators?
Only where the creator gives technical advice. ASCI's updated guidelines require relevant qualifications, stated upfront, for health, nutrition and financial advice; stocks and investments need SEBI registration. A baking or make-up tutorial needs skill, not a credential. See health influencer rules and finfluencer rules.
How do we know a tutorial worked?
Look beyond views. Track views over 90 days, search impressions for how-to phrases, watch time on your product page, support tickets and returns on the covered topic, and activation for apps. A tutorial that cuts questions to support is working even if the view count is modest. Our guide to measuring Reel performance lists the Instagram metrics.
How long can we use a tutorial video?
As long as the licence says and the product has not changed. Agree platforms, duration and edits in writing, and plan an update when you change the product or the steps. Evergreen tutorials are where longer rights pay for themselves. See usage rights and content repurposing ROI.
